As you may recall, a draft of a revised IPR policy was circulated to members for comment last autumn and a series of webinars were held. A number of important member comments were received, after which the Board decided to further refine the policy to address these. The Governance Subcommittee was expanded and included representatives from at&t, Deutsche Telekom, Ericsson, France Telecom, IBM, Microsoft, Reliance Communications and Telstra. The task of the committee has been to represent a broad scope of membership interests and balance the interests of contributors to Forum standards and implementers.
The primary changes to the previous Policy draft are to simplify the IPR options for Forum Project Collaboration Teams and to ensure that the rights and obligations contained in the current (1989) policy are maintained.
