Become a Certified Consultant
Accreditation is only given to individuals (not organizations as a whole), and the accreditation is for specific topics which are part of the TM Forum’s technical program. The topics currently available are two parts of NGOSS – eTOM and SID. An individual may be accredited as an eTOM consultant, a SID consultant or both.

For more information on background needed to pass the exams, please refer to our eTOM Team (and their documents area) as well as our Shared Information Data (SID) Team and their documents.  Onsite training is available at various locations world-wide, as well as at our TeleManagement World Events and Regional Summits.  Please click here for a list of frequently asked questions on the exam.

Certification Criteria

Any individual may become an accredited consultant on an aspect of the TM Forum technical work by meeting the following criteria:

  1. You must belong to a TM Forum member organization.
  2. You must either:
    1. Be active in the appropriate technical team
    2. Have successfully attended an approved TM Forum training course in that topic
  3. You must pass an exam for that particular technical topic.
  4. Your application must be approved by the TM Forum Approvals Committee, which is comprised of a combination of members of the TM Forum Board of Directors and key technical team participants.
If your company does not continue membership in the TM Forum, or if you are no longer associated with a company that is a member of the TM Forum, your approval lapses immediately. If you transfer employment to another TM Forum member company we will update your records and you can retain your accreditation status.
Certification Process

Our web-based process will take you through each step of the certification process.

You will be asked to identify your company, and their membership in the TM Forum will be validated. You may only use your company email address as a contact point, so that we can correctly validate your membership. (click here for the list of member companies)

You will be asked to identify exactly which TM Forum training course you have taken, and/or which technical teams you have been participating in, and what significant contributions you have made to those teams.

You will be asked to pay for (see costs) and take a web-based test on your chosen topic or topics. The test for each topic consists of a set of 40 randomly selected questions, which have been prepared by a team of experts, and validated and approved by the TM Forum.

Each time you sit the test you must complete it in one session. You may not save some of your answers and come back subsequently. Therefore we strongly recommend that you reserve approximately 2 hours in order to complete the test.

In order to pass this test you must achieve an 85% score. Samples of the questions and answers are available here.

Once you have passed the test all of your information will be confirmed within the TM Forum, and a recommendation for accreditation will be sent to the TM Forum Approvals committee. The feedback of the approvals committee will be provided to you within two weeks of your completion of the online information.

available certification topics

Initially, the topics available include two parts of NGOSS – eTOM and SID (links to NGOSS, eTOM and SID). We plan to extend this to other topic areas depending on market demand.

Costs

The cost to take each test is $500 for each topic. This entitles you to take the test a total of three times. Each time you take the test you must complete it in one session; we recommend that you set aside two hours to take each test.
