Co-operative OSS Project
The 'Co-operative OSS Project' (CO~OP) is an ongoing collaboration formed by Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia Siemens Networks, Samsung and Wipro as a TeleManagement Forum technical program to drive the architecture evolution for management of mobile networks. CO~OP utilizes existing IT and telecom standards to create future OSS solutions based on CO~OP's SOA-enabled architecture. CO~OP collaborates with others in the OSS industry to build demos, verification systems and proofs of concepts to push the solutions into the marketplace

CO-OP Overview |
|
Specifically targeting the systems 'integration tax' pressure on operators and service providers, five major mobile suppliers have teamed up with the TeleManagement Forum to drive open management standards. Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia Siemens Networks, Samsung and Wipro have joined forces to drive implementation of a common architecture for mobile network management.

Developing Operations Support System Interoperability to Reduce Systems Integration Costs
Today, operators and service providers face considerable difficulties in integrating Operations Support Systems (OSS) provided by different vendors. They cannot easily deploy the built-in functionality of vendors' OSS systems, resulting in excessive implementation costs. To provide a practical solution to this issue, nine major mobile network equipment suppliers have teamed up with the TeleManagement Forum to drive open management standards.

Co-operative Open OSS Project (CO-OP)
Mobile network equipment providers (Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia Siemens Networks, Samsung and Wipro) have initiated a CO~OPerative OSS Project (CO~OP) under TeleManagement Forum (TMF). The CO~OP members will work together on architecture specification, interface specification, testing and verification of operation support systems (OSS) The CO~OP aims to reduce the complexity of integrating operation support systems from multiple network equipment providers in the wireless service providers environment.

Security and Today's NOC - Needs, Trends and Standards
Implementing a Single Sign On (SSO) solution today still requires custom engineering. Standards are now gaining traction in the IT industry that promise a more painless integration. The TMF CO~OP team has investigated and documented an approach based on a subset of OASIS SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language) and complemented it with mechanisms to integrate non-web user interfaces.

Managing Mobile Networks with Multiple Vendors
This Webinar took place on December 1, 2005 The ‘Managing Mobile Networks with Multiple Vendors’ webinar explains the CO~OP initiative that is leveraging and enhancing existing standards such as 3GPP and is driven by the need to create practical solutions for real, service provider-identified challenges. Find out more about CO-OP and its implications and benefits and what brings Alcatel, Ericsson, Lucent, Huawei, NEC, Nokia, Nortel, Motorola, Samsung and Siemens around the same table in the mobile OSS space.
