The Enhanced Telecom Operations Map® (eTOM) is the ongoing TM Forum initiative to deliver a business process model or framework for use by service providers and others within the telecommunications industry.

Release 6.0 of the eTOM Framework builds on the existing TMF Approved Release 4.0, that has also being incorporated into ITU-T Recommendation M.3050 and has been approved and published by

ITU-T as a new international standard. It also extends previous interim Releases 4.5 and 5.0.

GB921 Release 6.0 is part of NGOSS 6.0. It updates detailed process decompositions, and an updated and expanded interim release of information on linking eTOM and ITIL. Note that the previous material on how eTOM is used in the definition of NGOSS Contracts, is now expanded and incorporated into a separate document (GB939) and is no longer included within the eTOM Solution Suite.
The work of SID phase VI, as reflected in the changes in GB922 SID Business View, and its addenda, is part of NGOSS 6.0. The changes to GB922 and its addenda reflect ongoing work in the SID Agreement, Business Interaction, Customer, Product and the Market/Sales domains. These changes also reflect the inclusion of SID XSDs and updated alignments between SID and eTOM.

The NGOSS Lifecycle project was established to provide the industry with a common framework on ‘How to use and deploy NGOSS within an organization’. It covers identifying and describing a business problem and expressing the specification that will be used to direct the development and deployment of practical solutions. To that end, Release 6.0 introduces 2 new documents (GB930, and GB937) which explain what NGOSS is in easy to follow practical terms.

Release 6.0 also expands on the work produced in TMF053, the main NGOSS Technology Neutral Architecture (TNA) document, giving further clarity to NGOSS artefacts, extensions of NGOSS as a Distributed Interface Oriented Architecture (DIOA) and a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), and mandating Policy Management as part of NGOSS TNA.
