The Azure Global Operator Attitudes to Revenue Assurance Survey 2003 was carried out for Azure by Analysys, the internationally acclaimed telecoms analysts, based in Cambridge, UK. Analysys interviewed 50 operators from different regions in the world to investigate levels of revenue loss.
The main findings of the survey include;
- Average revenue leakage has increased to 13.7% of turnover (up from 12.3% in the 2001 survey)
- Revenue losses are expected to increase as a result of the introduction of new products and pricing schemes
- The major sources of loss are poor processes and procedures, credit management, incomplete/incorrect CDRs and interconnect errors
When asked what constituted an “acceptable” level of revenue loss, the average was 1.7% of turnover, significantly lower than the levels achieved by all but the world’s best operators. However, when we looked at the sources of major loss, we believe that most are preventable.
Mobile operators appear to be losing more than fixed line operators and there were also large geographic variances. Our experience with all types of operator around the globe tells us that putting the right systems and processes in place will reduce revenue losses no matter what your circumstances. We hope you will find the detail of the survey interesting.
The Azure Operator Attitudes to Revenue Assurance 2003 survey is free to operators. The 2004 survey is currently being researched, and will be available on our website from September 2004.
