Service Providers and Equipment and OS vendors require a means to integrate disparate business applications. The TM Forum provides a framework to accomplish this: eTOM, NGOSS, etc. Facile integration needs a well-defined information model as found in TMF608 and implementation specific solution set such as found in TMF 814. These documents from the MTNM collaboration team are highly regarded and have been implemented by a large number of equipment and software vendors. As the network technology evolves, this model will be extended to support the emerging technology.
Current industry trends in distributed computing are increasingly moving toward web services and XML/JMS are used for distributed application integration. The quickest way to solve this business problem is to build on the current MTNM information models. TMF608 is a UML network model that can be extended to include other interface technologies such as XML. The solution set can be written in XML by mapping UML (TMF 608). The XML information model is implemented as a solution set on Java under the OSS/J specifications.
