2004 is the year that everybody in business in telecoms has to take IP seriously. In the past it has been possible to maintain a separation between the traditional voice services and the data/content environments, bringing them together in bundled offerings largely as a means to increase customer loyalty. Although the charges for these services - whether usage based, subscription based or even free - might appear on a single bill, the operational and business contexts within which voice and data have been managed have remained essentially discrete.
