| Getting Started with the SID: A Data Modeler’s Guide is the TM Forum’s latest volume on New Generation Operations Systems and Software (NGOSS). Building on NGOSS Distilled by Martin Creaner and John Reilly, Getting Started With the SID provides readers with a clear overview of this standard industry data model and includes recommendations on its use in OSS/BSS transformation. Written by the TM Forum’s co-chair of the Shared Information and Data Model project and TM Forum staff member, John Reilly provides answers to many questions about this cornerstone framework. Some highlights: | |
- What the SID contains—its domains and coverage
- How to implement and extend the SID to meet real world challenges
- Why common data models like the SID are invaluable in integration
- What development tools support the SID
Each copy of Getting Started includes free software for exploring the SID model: Progress® DataXtend™ SID Model Browser. Find something in Getting Started that piques your interest? Rather than page through printouts or trace relationships in UML, use the SID Model Browser’s search tools to locate the relevant sections. Improve your understanding by using the visualization tools, which illustrate class attributes, relationships and hierarchy for every element in the SID. The SID is an essential part of the NGOSS framework. Getting Started with the SID, with its comprehensive overview, companion software, and practical advice provides the first principles to put you on the path to project success.
