Business Metrics posterBusiness Metrics brochureThe industry requires quantitative as well as qualitative information to support its evolution in the increasingly complex market that is developing through technology advancements, regulatory changes, and competitive influences. The TM Forum Business Metrics program supports metrics development for the Business Benchmarking Program.
The Business Metrics project team has developed a "scaffold" for delivering a comprehensive view of relevant business performance metrics and benchmarks. The guiding principles of the BusMet for establishing this scaffold are to:
- Assure relevancy and high business impact.
- Identify and measure what is ‘important to measure’ as opposed to measuring what is ‘easy to measure’. This will ensure that the work is continually relevant to the target audience: the Service Providers.
- Clearly define and describe the metrics to a sufficient level of detail to ensure “apples to apples” and not “apples to oranges” comparisons between participants.
- Align with other benchmarks to prevent unnecessary duplicated effort for data collection.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality of all information submitted by the service providers participating in this activity.
A more complete description of the BusMet work is contained in the document “Telecom Operations Benchmarking (TOB) Executive Summary.”
