The Software Enabled Services (SES) Management Solution Interface Business Agreement TMF525 further details the SDF Reference Architecture document [TMF061]. It provides the technical requirements for the purpose of Software Enabled Services Management Solution interface specification development. These technical requirements are derived from the analysis of Service Providers' use cases and the inspirations of solution candidates that were collected from an open RFI issued to the industry in 3Q2009 by the Software Enabled Services Management Solution team.
The TMF525 document is organized in two perspectives to serve different audiences needs:
Business Perspective: A storyboard and a set of use cases illustrate how SES Reference Architecture entities can be applied in real life scenarios. This will assist the business analyst, service architects, OSS and IT personnel to understand how the Software Enabled Services Management Solution can help to achieve the business goals of addressing new markets and understand the impact the Software Enabled Services Management Solution could bring to enable new services management in a software environment to support areas such as cloud services and 3rd party applications, etc.
Technical Perspective: For each use case, mandatory and optional SES Management Solution requirements are derived. They provide the requirements for SES Management Solution interface specification engineers to understand what must be modeled and specified to support a SES Management Solution enabling environment, and for service and application developers to understand what must be complied with to participate in a managed and monetizable service marketplace ecosystem.
The use cases provided in this document exemplify some specific business scenario that may already exist in many of the service providers’ environment. The use cases are to demonstrate how one can apply existing implementations by adapting them based on SES Management Solution design patterns and SES Management Solution entities to support a SES Management Solution enablement environment.
Software Enabled Services Management Solution and SDF
The TMF525 document is a deliverable of the TM Forum SDF Phase IV project. While the document was being processed for member publication approval, TM Forum announced a new name for the SDF and associated deliverables: the Software Enabled Services (SES) Management Solution.
Since the TMF525 document forms the basis for the next phase of work, the team decided to replace the SDF terminology by the SES Management Solution terminology and resubmit the document for approval in November 2010. The earlier SDF deliverables are not being updated at this point, and hence these documents still contain the SDF terminology:
- Service Delivery Framework (SDF) Business Agreements [TMF519]
- Service Delivery Framework (SDF) Reference Model [TR139]
- Service Delivery Framework (SDF) Reference Architecture [TMF061]
In case new versions of these “SDF”-documents are published, the terminology will also be updated. Hence in this TMF525 document, the places where you will still find references to the SDF-term, is in the titles of those documents.
In order to facilitate relating those SDF deliverables to the new SES Management Solution terminology used in the new deliverables, a Document Reading Guide [TR161] has been completed and is currently being processed for publication.
