Interoperability and integration issues have long impaired service providers' ability to unlock new revenue streams by rapidly rolling out and managing new services. This Catalyst project will use Gigabit Ethernet services to demonstrate the intersection of three new specifications that tackle these multi-vendor management issues head-on, enabling the rapid introduction of services, automated provisioning, and faster introduction of new services and technologies.

The Optical Internetworking Forum's UNI 1.0 provides rapid and dynamic service provisioning across the optical transport network while reducing interoperability issues among network elements. The TeleManagement Forum's Multi-Technology Network Management (MTNM) TMF814 interface addresses integration issues between EMS and NMS/OSS, to deliver fault, performance and configuration management, as well as visibility into the optical connections for service restoration. New Generation OSS (NGOSS) design goals are applied to demonstrate a reusable architecture for delivery of advanced, competitive services and aggressive SLAs.
