The burgeoning mobile content industry in Indonesia has been brought to its knees by a moratorium imposed the Indonesia Telecommunication Regulatory Body (BRTI) and the Ministry of Communication. The action has effectively stopped all sales of premium mobile content over the existing mobile networks and stems from a spate of consumer complaints, in excess of 9,000, over the suspicious and unaccountable loss of pre-paid credit balances. Mobile phone content providers called for better regulation following... -
In a blog picked up by TelecomAsia earlier this week, The Insider’s alter ego wrote about the lessons Apple’s departing CEO, Steve Jobs, might have taught the telecoms industry. It was full of the usual blah blah about the challenges Jobs and Apple caused the telcos and the disruptive nature of its products. From May the existing Times Online site , which merges content from the two newspapers, will be replaced by separate sites... -
It’s not even being delivered yet but I bet most of you are already sick of hearing about the Apple iPad. If you are a CSP (Communications Service Provider) you are probably dreading the extra load it is going to put on your mobile network and how you won’t necessarily see an incremental increase in revenue. Think again! Rather than sitting around navel-gazing operators should be looking at the greatest potential use of iPad and similar devices and work out how to get onto the curve early.
