Empowering Service Providers With Service Lifecycle Management
.
TM Forum’s Software Enabled Services (SES) Management Solution aids members to effectively manage software components where service capabilities are exposed by open interfaces (APIs) and developed using widely adopted software practices, such as SOA (service-oriented architecture). The SES management solution enables service providers to manage and monetize these components across multiple parties (e.g., customers, supplier/partners). It provides consistent management interfaces and service lifecycle management practices specially defined for new communications and cloud environments. The SES Management Solution includes an innovative reference architecture and integration specifications for managing these services with third-parties in a highly distributed or virtualized environment. SES Management Solution complements the TM Forum Integration Framework in SOA best practices and emerging standards.
Its SES Management Interface complements the operations exposed by the software components API with additional lifecycle management operations. And the SES design pattern per the SES Reference Architecture enables reusability of services in different environments, including Cloud, by manipulating the LMM.
The SES pattern enables software components to participate in a TM Forum Frameworx based solution. The SES Management Solution intends to augment the TM Forum artifacts for that purpose, and as such bridge the gap between TM Forum Frameworx and the Web 2.0 world.
As an example, the SES Management Solution allows Communication Service Providers to reach out to APPs developers with a proposition while integrating SP Service Enablers and adding these simple SMI operations on the APPs API, health and usage information can be collected in support of a revenue sharing agreement. Communications Service Providers can establish an eco system with Cloud Service Providers and enable consistent business management of composed capabilities.
TM Forum has renamed the SDF activity, team and deliverables to
Software Enabled Services (SES) Management Solution. Software Enabled
Service (SES) is referring to what used to be called SDF Service.
The update of the TM Forum website, SES Management Solution online community and related communications are currently under preparation. The team developed
TR161, a Document Reading Guide that documents the mapping from the old to the new technology.
