Getting Around
Metro
The quick and easy way to travel around the city, as well as the best value. The Paris metro has around 300 stations, their entrances marked by a big yellow “M”, and 16 lines, numbered from 1 to 14, 3 bis and 7 bis. Each line has a colour, which you’ll find on signs in the stations and on all the RATP maps. Connections between lines make your journey easy to plan. For an idea of your journey time, allow an average of 2 minutes per station and add 5 minutes for each connection.
Maps of the public transport network, in all shapes and sizes, are available free of charge at the ticket offices, as well as at the all the information centres of the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau. Large-scale maps are also displayed on the platforms and at the entrance to each station.
Bus
The bus network with its 59 routes perfectly matches and complements that of the metro. The installation of special bus lanes along the main roads has improved journey times. For an idea of your journey time, allow around 5 minutes per stop, sometimes more if the traffic is busy.
Dining
There are an infinite number of Dining options in Paris. Please come back soon for a full list of dining options in the area!
Money saving tip!
Travelers are sometimes wary about drinking the water, but in Paris you should have no such worries. You can order bottled water if you like, but you can save money by just ordering a carafe of tap water instead. Just make sure you order a carafe specifically – if you just order water, the waiter will almost certainly bring you bottled water.
Health and Safety
The city is an ideal location for an event of this size- all facilities are easily accessible, and the city provides a safe and therefore conducive environment for business. Even though Paris is a safe city, you should take the following steps whenever you travel:
- Make a copy of your passport, and pack it in a place separate from where you are carrying the original.
- Leave a copy of your itinerary with family or friends at home.
- Be especially cautious at crowded subways, train stations, bus stations, tourist sites, market places, festivals, and crime- ridden neighborhoods.
- Don't use short cuts, narrow alleys, or poorly lit streets.
- Try not to travel alone at night- if you have no choice, let a colleague know where you are going.
- Avoid public demonstrations and other personal matters with strangers.
- Try not to wear conspicuous clothing and expensive jewelry, and do not carry excessive amounts of money or unnecessary credit cards
- Familiarize yourself with emergency exits and procedures at the venue, and your hotel
For anyone traveling to France from another country to attend Team Action Week you are advised to check with your country's appropriate government agencies for VISA and travel information.
