Course Descriptions

The Applications Framework (TAM) provides a view of Telecom Applications which is complementary to the Business Process Framework (eTOM) and Information Framework (SID). It builds on the success of the Business Process Framework and Information Framework which together with the Applications Framework make up the heart of NGOSS.

The Business Process Framework (eTOM) is at the heart of NGOSS. It provides the only standardized way within the telecoms industry to capture business processes. This course provides the attendee with a big picture view of the Business Process Framework and its use in business process transformation. The student will hear how the Business Process Framework has been used in successful projects. Students will also take part in practical exercises aimed at enhancing the knowledge gained in the course.

The adoption of the Business Process Framework (eTOM) continues to increase within the telecommunications industry. As a result, there is a need to provide advanced training in how the framework can be extended/modified for use by an organization and in its practical use.

The Information Framework (SID) is the lingua franca for NGOSS. It is used to define in business and systems terms, the information that is utilized in OSS/BSS deployments. This course provides an overview of NGOSS and three of its cornerstones: the Business Process Framework (eTOM), the Information Framework (SID), and the Technology-Neutral Architecture.

The industry’s adoption of the Information Framework (SID) continues to increase. The Information Framework (SID) Modeller's Workshop offers attendees theory and practice on the use of the framework. Included is how the framework can be extended and implemented by applying modeling patterns and extension guidelines.

Details coming soon.

Billing is about the customer. It has moved from a back office function to a strategic role within an organization. Billing must now be a key component in the management of customers, enabling product bundling, allowing a single view of the customer and driving the fast introduction of new, billable products and services. Using the TM Forum Revenue Map and its relationship with the Business Process Framework (eTOM) as a reference tool, this course will provide a complete understanding of the environment that will support and enable converged, next generation services.

This workshop will give a brief introduction to the requirements for the Next Generation Network (NGN) including associated business drivers. It will then look in more detail at the architectures for NGN and NGN management - as are being specified by a number of industry fora and standards bodies. In particular, the possible application of TM Forum’s NGOSS technologies for NGN management will be outlined.

TM Forum APIs provide an effective solution to today’s application integration challenges. Several sets of APIs are available, including OSS/J (OSS Through Java) Java, XML, and Web Service APIs, MTNM (Multi-Technology Network Management) Corba APIs, and MTOSI (Multi-Technology Operation System Interface) XML APIs. This workshop provides an overview of each API set along with guidelines to help an application developer and/or integrator choose the appropriate API(s) to use.

The NGOSS frameworks are the Service Provider’s only true standard for development and deployment of Service Management and OSS/BSS systems. NGOSS based solutions are easy to integrate, flexible, and easy to manage throughout their lifecycle. This two hour web-based training is intended to provide attendees with an introduction to NGOSS and its Frameworks.

This course provides delegates with a practical hands-on experience in using AutomagicKB’s approach to the analysis and design of NGOSS-styled Service-Contracts. The course uses the TM Forum Business Process Framework (eTOM) to explore the requirements of a typical Service Provider to identify opportunities for business process automation.

This course provides delegates with a practical hands-on experience in AutomagicKB’s approach to utilising the TM Forum Information Framework (SID) to analyze and design NGOSS-styled Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) Entity-centric Service Contracts. This third party approach uses the Information Framework (SID) to explore the requirements of a typical Service Provider to identify opportunities for utilizing new and existing business application capability.

This course gives a basis for reassessing the revenue assurance priorities of a business and identifying a strategic path for developing the revenue assurance capability without simply increasing resources or expenditure. The course highlights the typical evolution of revenue assurance within a Service Provider, and explains the main obstacles to progress.

The SDF Workshop provides students with practical guidance for implementing, using, and extending the SDF and other teams’ results. Case studies depict how the SDP/SDF work is being used by TM Forum members and exercises allow students to practice the competencies obtained during the workshop.

This workshop provides students with an introduction to application integration frameworks and how to put the Information Framework (SID) to this use. Case studies depict how the framework is being used as part of an integration framework and exercises allow students to practice demonstrate the competencies obtained during the workshop.
