What the project will achieve
- The scope and output of project will include:
- Demonstrate many typical IMS services:
- VT (Video Telephone)
- IM (Instant Message)
- PS (Presence)
- MRBT (Multimedia Ring Back Tone)
- MMCI (MultiMeadia Colorful Identity
- DAB (Dynamic Address Book)
- Demonstrate multiple different access terminals:
- Fix-line terminal (for VT service)
- Wifi termina
- Laptop
- Demonstrate how to create and deliver IMS services based on SDP
- Demonstrate how to realize “IMS products management” and “IMS services management”
- Demonstrate how to subscribe and active “the above IMS services”
- Demonstrate how to realize “IMS on line charging” :
- Seamlessly integrate OCS (Online Charging Solution, here it is specified to one of IMS elements) and billing syste
- Realize flow-based charging (video flow, voice flow)
- Standardize the main interfaces that relative to IMS:
- Interfaces between “CRM” and “service management”
- Interfaces between “service management” and “resourse management”
- Interfaces between “resourse management” and “HSS”
- Interfaces between “OCS” and “billing system”
- Interfaces between “SDP” and “AS
- Interfaces between “SDP” and “OMA platform”
- Standardize the main SID relative to IMS:
- SID of “IMS product”
- SID of “IMS service”
- SID of “IMS subscriber”
- The objectives of project will include:
- Give more richful IMS services experience
- Give the total solution of OSS/BSS for IMS services:
- From IMS services creation, delivering
- To IMS services management, subscribing and activatio
- To IMS services billing, charging
- Validate TMF NGOSS frameworks for IMS services
- Liaise and contribute specifications for IMS:
- TMF: enhancement and extension of eTOM, SID, TAM, MTOSI
- 3GPP, 3GPP2: new interfaces definition between “resourse management” and “HSS”, between “OCS” and “billing system”
- OMA: new interfaces definition between “SDP” and “OMA platform”
Why it needs to be done
Although the project of Phase I in Dallas 2007 has proposed the general architecture which showed how OSS/BSS seamlessly support IMS service, and also successfully demonstrated the flow which included from subscribing, activation to charging and management of video-telephony service which based on IMS.
But the Phase I project is just a first step to the area of “OSS/BSS for IMS services”, and just one IMS service was demonstrated. There is still much work to be done when it comes to commercial operating.
The Phase II project will provide richful IMS services and more access types of IMS terminals, which is closer to the real commercial operating circumstance. And also, Phase II project will extend the study subjects of IMS services lifecycle to service creation and delivering. Moreover, much more detailed, deeper and innovation work will be done in Phase II.
The potential benefit to the industry
- Provide the total solution of “OSS/BSS for IMS services”, which could be used as an industry reference model.
- Much more innovation work will be contributed to industry, which could promote the development and maturation of this area.
- Demonstrate the use of COTS-based approach for providing NGOSS solutions.
