| Responding to India's dynamic telecom needs - the role of regulation and TRAI Nripendra Misra, Chairman, TRAI
This session will provide an insight from the Chairman of the regulator, TRAI, into how the role of regulatory policy in India will impact the potential rapid growth. Traditionally India has been a highly regulated market and this session will examine how much this has changed and how it will continue to change to enable for a more dynamic and competitive marketplace. More competition enables more players to compete for the new customers but requires regulatory controls to remain in place to ensure that the drive for growth does not come at the expense of stability. | Business Transformation for Growth and Profitability Keith Willetts, Chairman, TM Forum
In telecom one can often come back to the old saying “lead, follow or get out of the way.” Those companies who fail to make radical changes to their operation, culture, portfolio and other key areas will fall behind, see their market share shrink and become takeover targets – or worse. Those that undertake a transformation agenda stand to keep their organization at the forefront of the industry This presentation will examine how operators must transform their business processes and systems into a new competitive edge how their suppliers can take advantage of this huge growth opportunity while maintaining a tight grip on the costs Presentation Downloads | Attendees Only This presentation is only available to conference attendees of the event. | Designing, managing and growing the IBM/Bharti relationship to 156 million + subscribers and beyond. Krishnan Narayan, Associate Partner, IBM Corporation
Bharti Airtel Limited is the largest full suite telecom services provider in the private sector in India. As early as 2004, the company could foresee the stupendous growth that was going to hit the Indian telecom sector. The business and IT leadership of the company understood that the systems that had seen Bharti grow to nearly 6 million subscribers in nearly 8 years of its existence would not be sufficient to handle the predicted growth to 100 million subscribers by 2010.
Today, nearly two and a half years into the agreement, IBM has helped Bharti to:
• Expand operations geographically across the country
• Transform itself to become an integrated telecom services provider
• Emerge as an innovative organization with a renewed focus on customers.
This session describes, in detail, the approach suggested to Bharti to meet the 100 million+ subscriber projection by 2010.

| Killer issues in IPTV – Delivering and Managing Telco TV services cost effectively Rajeev Tankha, Director, Product & Solutions Marketing, Oracle Corporation
IPTV has moved from technology trials to market trials and limited launches. Despite the urgency of losing market share in Voice, successful IPTV launches remain elusive, with most Telco’s stuck with small trials or facing major delays. Servicing demands for Video are significantly higher than any other Telco service and pose a major threat to a Telco’s success.
IPTV operational expenditures (OpEx) can overtake and even surpass capital expenditures (CapEx) if back-office processes are not managed effectively resulting in unsuccessful order execution in over 50% of all cases, multiple truck rolls in over 30% of orders, and service complaints for over 50% of help desk calls. These operational issues significantly impact a Telco’s ability to successfully launch, deliver and manage an IPTV service, resulting in extremely high customer churn rates.
Experts from MetaSolv & its Partners, with operational knowledge of 10+ successful IP TV deployments and launches, will conduct this presentation to examine these operator challenges and discuss proven methodologies used in launching successful IPTV deployments, including:
· Techniques for the effective launch and operation of a telecom IPTV service
· Real-world experiences regarding the most critical customer-impacting operation areas in running an IPTV service
· Best practice approaches for launching or scaling these advanced services
· Effective OSS support for IPTV service fulfillment

| Achieving a Single Customer View in a Fragmented BSS / OSS Landscape Anandan Jayaraman, Vice President Telecom Media and Entertainment, SAP AG
Today's service providers are faced with a proliferation of product catalogs, customer management and billing / OSS applications. While efforts are under way to rationalize these systems in the long term, it is becoming critical to leverage these current investments in th short-medium term to realize a 360 degree convergent view of the customer. This presentation will discuss best practices on how to best implement a Single Customer View Solution without ripping (or) replacing your existing systems. Several case studies and examples will be used to highlight how service providers can achieve the holy grail of a single customer view in real time by unifying financial, transactional and interaction data across multiple disparate applications. | Migration of legacy systems into NGOSS architecture Tony Sceales, CTO, Celona Technologies Ltd Glenn Presland, Senior Product Manager, BT Group plc
Two case studies will prove that sleep doesn't have to be lost when you realize that your legacy system is actually making you less competitive and costing you more money each day. The case studies will discuss how migrations into NGOSS architecture by using progressive migration technology allows operators to keep the business lights on and continue creating new products and services. Using this method, migrations will actually succeed by taking a radically different approach to traditional ETL (Extract, transform, load). | BPM Catalysts Upendra Dharmadhikari, Senior Process Consultant , Tech Mahindra
Telecommunication providers face changing business landscapes which result in changes to business processes. In TMF, there is a strong definition of framework process (the eTOM) and data (the SID), but no formalised way of implementing the business processes using the various BPM systems and methodologies available to Communication Providers today. The BPM Technical Team and Catalyst project have produced various aspects of the “iBPM Catalyst Methodology” to enhance eTOM implementation using standards to implement business processes for various Communication Providers. | Structuring a Network Business Model using a tiered Architecture Madan Mohan Vinjamuri, Software Engineer, Cisco Systems
As service providers and vendors move from silo systems to integrated component and SOA based solutions, they require a supporting information model architecture.
NGOSS also needs to provide alignment of abstract models such as the SID to detailed models such as those in MTOP.
The Chameleon team has produced a framework and model style that that supports both these needs.

| Evolving Existing Silo Based Networks to Service Oriented Architecture Infrastructure for Converged Applications Hoda Mansour, Senior Director, Global Strategy & Business Development, Global SDP Team, Oracle Corporation
Operators have invested heavily in their networks that had evolved over time into an extremely complex Silo Based infrastructure, that is difficult to support innovate converged applications. Operators need to act fast to that challenge by consolidating their infrastructure to support the development and deployment of rich converged services that could run on both existing and next generation IP based networks. This would support the deployment of a new wave of VOIP, Fixed/Mobile & real time applications. | Examining the role of OSS in ensuring profitability in times of runaway growth Sanjay Mewada, VP Strategy, NetCracker Technology
The OPEX can be one of the biggest cost centers for a rapidly growing service provider. The back office and OSS is the single largest component of OPEX. This presentation will focus on how mobile and fixed operators can architect a back office designed to rapidly scale the number of subscribers and offer customized services. In a very price sensitive market, customer retention and churn reduction has to be achieved via service innovation and service bundles that can be customized quickly with short deployment cycles. Using a case study, this presentation will focus on best practices in architecting, deploying and scaling a back office that ensures reduction in unit cost of provisioning and activating a service without putting constraints on subscriber growth Presentation Downloads | Attendees Only This presentation is only available to conference attendees of the event. | Enhancing business value and customer relationships through e-billing and e-payments - Keith Willetts, Chairman, TM Forum
This session will provide an insight from a TM Forum representative on the work being undertaken by the TMF in the area of e-billing and e-payments. In any service business the ease by which subscribers are able to transact for their services can have an immense impact on the successful takeup of new services. This is especially true in areas of pay per use and in low ARPU markets where providing simplicity of making small payments in a scaleable manner may be essential.
