TM Forum Training

Exam Prerequisites

General Exam Pre-requisites

  • Candidates must be from member companies and have attended the relevant training course.
  • Candidates should be familiar with Frameworx and its views.
Frameworx
Exam Pre-requisites (Level 2)
  • Candidates must have attended either the "Solution Frameworks Overview" or "Frameworx Overview" (formerly know as "Frameworx/NGOSS Distilled") training course.
  • Candidates should familiarize themselves with the latest version of the Frameworx documentation suite.

Business Process Framework (eTOM)
Exam Pre-requisites (Levels 2 & 4)

For the level 2 (introductory-level) exam:

  • Candidates must have attended either the "Business Process Framework (eTOM) Distilled" or "Solution Frameworks Overview" training course.

For the level 4 (intermediate-level) exam:

  • This examination is designed to test students on their wider understanding of the Business Process Framework and its uses. As such, it covers (in principle) all areas of documentation, discussion and ongoing activity involving the Framework. This includes, but may not be limited to:
    • Business Process Framework documentation, both published and in development, including:

      • the full "GB921" set of documents and artefacts in the TM Forum Document Library, including addenda, user guides, etc.

      • related documents, such as the TR143 "eTOM/ITIL: Building Bridges", packaged as part of the Business Process Framework publications.

      • TM Forum training courses concerning the Business Process Framework.

      • TM Forum Web Community discussions, postings and other material for the Business Process Framework.

      • related TM Forum activities with other work areas (e.g. the eTOM Certification Program, linkages with the overall "Frameworx" program).

      • related activities outside of TM Forum (e.g. the ongoing work and agreements with itSMF and the ITIL community).
It is not expected that all this material is memorised (so, for example, it is not necessary to be able to recite the whole eTOM structure), but a good familiarity and working knowledge is expected. The examination aims to test understanding of principles and how these can be applied. Discussion and commentary on many of the issues arising in these various areas can form part of the questions set in the examination.
  • Candidates must have passed the level-2 exam.
  • Candidates must have attended the "Business Process Framework (eTOM) Implementer's Workshop" training course.
  • Candidates must wait at least three months from the time of attending the workshop to the time of sitting the exam.

Information Framework (SID)
Exam Pre-requisites (Levels 2 & 4)

For the level 2 (introductory-level) exam:

  • Candidates must have attended either the "Information Framework (SID) Distilled" or 3-day version of the "Solution Frameworks Overview" training course.

For the level 4 (intermediate-level) exam:

  • This examination is designed to test students on their wider understanding of the Information Framework, its uses, and the practical application of the Framework. As such, it covers (in principle) all areas of documentation, discussion and ongoing activity involving the Framework. This includes, but may not be limited to:

    • Information Framework documentation, both published and in development, including:

      • In depth knowledge of the Getting Started Pack - Primer, Concepts & Principles, and Using and Extending the Information Framework.

      • Knowledge of the contents of Level 1 Aggregate Business Entities documented in domain-specific addenda.

      • TM Forum training courses concerning the Information Framework.

      • TM Forum Web Community discussions, postings and other material for the Information Framework.

      • Related TM Forum activities with other work areas (e.g. the Information Framework Certification Program and linkages with the overall "Frameworx" program).

It is not expected that all this material is memorized (so, for example, it is not necessary to be able to recite the whole Information Framework), but a good familiarity and working knowledge is expected. The examination aims to test understanding of principles and how these can be applied. Discussion and commentary on many of the issues arising in these various areas can form part of the questions set in the examination.
