Winning with Mobile AdvertisingMobile advertising has exploded in the last 5 years, with 10’s of billions of ads served on the mobile web and in applications every month. This session will explore the A to Z of the business, including the most successful formats and handsets, case studies and standards. Finally, many service providers are increasingly utilising mobile advertising to sell their own products and services, so we examine principles and best practices.

Russell Buckley, Vice President Global Alliances, AdMob Inc.
Application Store Opportunity for OperatorsApple’s App Store success has brought about a radical shift in the way mobile applications are distributed. The App Store has disintermediated operators and skewed revenue distribution firmly in favor of application developers. Device vendors and operators have responded with similar storefronts to try and establish themselves in this space. Capgemini believes that operators have a number of existing capabilities which can be leveraged to help them compete successfully against other mobile application storefronts.
Speakers:
Anirban Nandi, Head of TME Strategy Lab, India, Capgemini

The Traditional Value Chain is Collapsing...Because of IP technologies there are fewer barriers to entry for any player wishing to act as a service provider, offering communications and/or entertainment services. This presentation will outline the new value chain, the key business & technology models of the future and what any "service provider” in the future must prioritize in order to stay competitive.
Speakers:
Marcus Lannerbro, Head of Marketing, Ericsson
The Virtual Marketplace - Monetising the Value ChainAs the revenue and bandwidth utilisation of major broadband telecom providers decouple, a considerable threat exist for the telecom provider to become a dumb pipe. Telstra Clear Wholesale in New Zealand has over the past few years piloted and gone into production with a Virtual Wholesale Platform to facilitate the creation of a broadband marketplace consisting of open source innovation platform delivering a single marketplace, centralized billing, immediate provisioning, on-device discovery, revenue distribution model - effectively monetizing the value chain.

But just as before, superior business performance will be driven by an enhanced set of value-chain focused key performance indicators.

Content Over Broadband: A Realistic Approach for Adding ValueContent owners and aggregators are searching for revenue streams based on the current on-demand consumption of video and data over the broadband internet. Telcordia will present a forward-looking solution for service providers seeking their place in the Web 2.0 model. How To Solve Business To Consumer and Carrier To Carrier Issues in The Telco 2.0 ModelDisintermediation of services and using a carrier as a provider of a “dumb pipe” can erode substantial portions of a telecom’s revenue base. Paradoxically, making key telco functionalities available to third parties can counter such trends by driving incremental traffic and enabling revenue sharing business models. We show how, within the service value chain, telcos can capitalize on such an approach in non-traditional ways and discuss how carriers should cooperate within this new business paradigm.
Speakers:
Rafal Dziedzic, TP Group Director of Technology Strategy, Telekomunikacja Polska SA

“Net Neutrality vs. Bandwidth Cost: The Economics of Delivering Over the Top Services”This presentation, in Q&A format, assesses the bandwidth and cost implications for CSPs as video streaming enters the mobile domain. While over the top providers use the Net Neutrality argument to push content without paying, mobile operators have to spend significant Cap Ex and Op Ex getting their networks ready for this surge in bandwidth. Can this model continue to be viable? What strategies can the service providers adopt to fight back?

Dramatically Improve MPLS Service Margins through Application AwarenessEnterprise focus is on the performance of their business critical applications. In response, a first wave of service providers are now extending their MPLS offerings to the application layer. But building a successful application aware VPN service is not only about technology innovation, it's about service innovation, business innovation and to shift from a network oriented model to an application and IT oriented model. Case study: the TIPAM service from Telecom Italia.

New Service: Global eCommerce with ebXML / ISO15000ebXML/15000 is an international standard developed by OASIS and the United Nations to modernize electronic data Interchange (EDI) and use the web. While these specifications have been implemented by many vendors (IBM, SUN, PROGRESS...) and are supported by some "value added network" providers, there is no global, low costs, secure offering. An enterprise using such a system, cannot be sure partners will be reachable. This is an opportunity for Telco's through the TM Forum to cooperate to provide easy, low costs, standardized eCommerce solutions.
