Over the past four years, TM Forum has been setting new revenue assurance standards and developing revenue assurance best practice. In response to overwhelming demand, TM Forum’s revenue assurance program was the first to deliver a systematic series of revenue assurance metrics that could be applied to any service provider.

Now, as part of TM Forum’s benchmarking initiative, service providers will be able to benchmark their revenue assurance performance by comparing their metrics to those of their peers. Some of the biggest names in the industry, including BT and China Telecom Shanghai Research Institute, will participate. Dr. Jane Booth explains why Cable & Wireless International has joined the initiative:

“TM Forum’s Revenue Assurance benchmarking survey is the first opportunity for the field to have a rigorous, harmonized set of KPIs that can be used to create a standard against which we can measure our performance against other international operators. The new revenue assurance benchmark builds on the previous successes of TM Forum’s revenue assurance program:

• The first comprehensive technical overview of revenue assurance;
• The first guidebooks written to explain how service providers can build and maintain an effective revenue assurance function;
• Practical real-life demonstrations of how to integrate revenue assurance with telecom OSS/BSS through a series of TM Forum Catalyst Projects;
• Embedding revenue assurance within the business by incorporating it within the TM Forum’s enhanced Telecoms Operation Map (eTOM);
• Genuine cooperative development of standards by Service Providers, training organizations, vendors and consultants, all donating their time and expertise freely.

Service Providers participating in the revenue assurance benchmark can be confident that their information will remain confidential. The new revenue assurance benchmark is part of the TM Forum’s umbrella business metrics initiative, which combines robust controls and secure infrastructure to maintain the integrity and security of data provided.

For a limited period, Service Providers that are not already members of TM Forum can participate in the revenue assurance benchmark at no charge. When added to the 600 companies that are already members of TM Forum, the revenue assurance benchmark is a unique opportunity for Service Providers to compare their performance using a meaningful series of KPI’s developed by industry experts.
