Projects

Revenue Management is the issue at the top of the mind of any service provider in any industry trying to keep customers, and to maximize income from them. The Revenue Management Initiative within the TM Forum will provide a medium and a focal point for the discussion and education around these issues.

The GBA Steering Council has become the core of the new Revenue Management Initiative. The GBA brand has been dissolved in order to avoid confusion in the marketplace and to position TM Forum as the sole organization focused on both OSS and BSS issues. However, the GBA’s work in the development of the GBA Map, which represents a Revenue Management view into eTOM, its Billing Process Benchmarking annual survey, its publications and seminars will continue and will provide the foundation and energy for the future work of the Revenue Management Initiative.

Scope of the Revenue Management Initiative

The Revenue Management Initiative now leads the definition of the strategy, topics and direction for all of the Revenue Management activities within the TM Forum Collaboration Program. The foundation for this work will be the work done so far by the GBA working groups- the development of the GBA Map, now the Revenue Management Map, which is aligned to Business Process Framework (eTOM), the Virtual Network Operator Initiative, an emerging discussion group, Beyond Billing, which redefines the scoped of billing in the new, converged world and the benchmarking work which has been a focal point for the GBA for several years.

The Initiative will be responsible for ensuring that liaison exists with all of the relevant groups within the TM Forum’s Collaboration Program, and that there is stronger business focus to the discussions and work that takes place. Initially, the relationships will be with the Business Process Framework (eTOM) development group, the Revenue Assurance Group and the Cable Interest Group and will bring a billing focus more closely in line with the work of these groups.

In the future, links will be forged with other groups, and the Revenue Management Initiative will, through close liaison with the appropriate teams, provide a broad business and customer focus to extend the work of many of the groups within the Collaboration Program.

In addition the close synergy with the existing projects mentioned above, it is fully expected that the new Initiative will develop close working relationships with the newly formed Service Quality Management project, the Service Level Agreement Management team, the Information Framework (SID) project and the End User Device Management program. The Initiative will therefore have a deep and broad impact and bring a new dimension to the work of the TM Forum’s highly successful Collaboration Program.
