This guidebook introduces the complications and concepts around a holistic approach to Fixed Asset Lifecycle Management (FALM). The focus is on network technology fixed assets such as DSLAMs (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexers), line cards or routers.
The key challenge, driven by external and internal regulations, is to ensure correct documentation of all fixed assets of a company. For telecommunications providers this is a complex task as fixed assets are numerous and distributed over the whole area of coverage. Due to historic reasons incumbents are experiencing issues in reconciliation and accounting.
The solution to the problem lies in an End-to-End view on each individual asset during its lifecycle which is described in this guidebook.
