The mobile sector of the telecommunications industry has been a major contributor to work of the TM Forum since its inception. Mobile industry participants have worked to develop both generic telecom and specific mobile industry frameworks and guidelines , and mobile operator members have benefited greatly from this work.

Much of the TM Forum’s output has been enhanced by the mobile industry’s business approach. The importance of ARPU, churn and the customer relationship generally have informed and influenced the TM Forum’s focus on the customer experience .

Our work is not only about making technologies talk to each other but also about enabling real business and technology alignment :  between equipment manufacturers, software vendors and network operators; between service providers content providers and device manufacturers. This is of key importance to mobile operators as they develop their third generation business, with its greater reliance on content and new services to supplement standard voice revenue.

Managing and keeping customers is increasingly difficult in most highly competitive mobile markets.  This team is building a framework for organizing customer behavior data and defining the range of applications or service which might use it to increase customer loyalty, lower costs and raise ARPU. IP Network Management
As mobile operators develop their 3G data networks IPnetwork management becomes key to delivering service quality. The Forum‘s IP Network Management team is developing solutions for the integrated management of multi-vendor IP networks. Find out more .

Participation
CO~OP – Cooperative OSS Project
This program brings mobile operators and suppliers together to establish a common approach for specifying and testing mobile network management systems.  The goal is to reduce integration costs and intervals across multi-vendor 3G network equipment and management systems. Find out more .
