There has never been a more turbulent, yet exciting time in the communications industry. As mobile penetration races towards 5 billion people; as applications and content mushroom enabled by ever faster fixed and mobile network, there is still uncertainty over the future role and market for communications players. Where are the emerging opportunities for service providers; where should they be investing; will new technologies like LTE and fiber access networks produce a return on investment or will it just make the ‘over-the-top’ players rich?

TM Forum’s Management World Asia seeks to shed light on some of these important questions. Optimize, innovate and transform are the key words for our conference and for tomorrows service provider. Optimizing business operations to drive out costs is an essential step in a market demanding ever more for less. But cost cutting alone does not produce a growth business – it’s merely table stakes. In a market where the customer has ever more choice and demands ever more value, driving up the customer experience isn’t just something that’s nice to do – it’s an essential tool in gaining and retaining market share. But even that’s not enough to succeed – the real driver of growth is Innovation and tapping into new markets - innovation in new technologies, new services and new business models in a bold and risk taking culture will be the hallmarks of tomorrow’s service providers.

Our exciting line-up of business leaders from across the region will be examining different impacts of the transformation of the communications industry to being the enablers of the digital services revolution. Join us in Singapore for this truly exciting event

Exploiting new business models and technologies - impacts of structural separation and high speed fibre

11:00 a.m.

Regulators around the world are encouraging investment in fast broadband access networks through separating access network operators from service providers. How is the new business model working; what are the challenges and what can other countries learn from their experience? How is the market responding over the coming months? What new product and service innovations are being enabled through the extra bandwidth and how are consumers reacting to new pricing models?

To answers these questions, we welcome executives from Nucleus Connect in Singapore and Australia’s National Broadband Network. By the time of the conference, Nucleus broadband will be 5 months into the deployment across Singapore and to learn from their experiences, we welcome back Nucleus CEO, David Storrie, for the latest updates on the new service. Exploiting new business models and technologies - Growing The Bottom Line While The Top Line Flattens

9:00 a.m.

Many markets in Asia have seen tremendous growth of mobile in the past few years. But around the world, we are seeing average revenue per user decline. Mature markets are now saturated and this trend will impact the high growth markets in Asia before long. What can be done to ensure that the bottom line continues to grow even as the top line from voice and messaging falters? As Chairman of the TM Forum, Keith Willetts is in a privileged position to look at trends around the world and discuss different ideas and strategies. Maximizing revenue and market share on existing services while cutting the cost of delivering them is important but so is developing new sources of revenue. Where are those revenues likely to come from and what steps do service providers need to take to develop them?
