The model set by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) is separated structurally and operationally. End-users will subscribe to services from retail service providers (RSPs), who rely on connectivity services in a wholesale model provided by the OpCo (who manages the active network). The OpCo in turn relies on the network company (NetCo) to provide access to the passive fibre network. This panel session will focus on challenges and benefits of such a model and the importance of the Business and Operational Support Systems (BSS/OSS).

Maximising Revenue through Exceptional Customer Experience
Problem Statement: Managing High ARPU Services in a Outsourced Network Management Scenario
Bharti has recently introduced IPTV services and while they have been facing small glitches in Broadband services these have manifested as serious disruptions in broadcast TV services resulting in a significant increase in customer complaints. Using NGOSS, OSI has deployed a solution at Bharti that leverage existing disparate fault, performance and probe systems that continuously monitors the end to end service, and pinpoints root cause of a service degradation due to a network health issue.
Service ProviderVideo IVR and Video Contact Centers as New Opportunities for Innovative Customer Services
The introduction of 3G services in the telecom world has created new opportunities for innovative services such as video IVR and video contact centers. At Etisalat in Egypt we have provided this service to the Egyptian market which is a first and only available in the Middle East. This presentation will investigate the integrated video IVR and video contact center services to enhance the customer experience.
Profitability as Part of Customer Experience Management
One important financial aspect, profitability, is typically not part of customer experience management processes. However, in today’s competitive environment, every CEM process should include also financial indicators in addition to traditional customer experience indicators, because that helps to recognize key customers and target operative actions, adjust service offering, and launch well-targeted promotions to them. We present a case where we expand the scope of customer experience management to include key financial indicators, including profitability.

Enabling Profitable Broadband & Mobile Broadband Services
Service ProviderBroadband - How Fast Do You Go?
With demand for wireless broadband growing exponentially, how does an incumbent, integrated carrier grow future broadband markets and provide the most attractive broadband speed proposition across a variety of networks? Telstra has made a multi-billion dollar investment that has delivered a world leading wireless broadband network, and a powerful, single integrated platform that is the largest integrated national network in the world and drives a host of network technologies, including DSL, Cable, Wireless and FTTx. In his presentation, Michael Lawrey, executive director Telstra Network & Technology, will address the worldwide ‘need’ for speed’, discuss the notion of ‘how fast is fast enough’ and explore the solutions available to today’s carriers to satisfy this burgeoning demand with cutting edge networks.
Thinking outside the Telecom Box: New Revenues from Non-Telecom Services
Using case studies in from Asia and Latin America this presentation shows how mobile service providers were able to generate significant revenues and profitability by raiding revenues and offering services associated with personal finance, employment and recruiting- something that would be considered “non-telecom” services. It discusses the underlying technology options and selection criteria, the unique approach to market segmentation, key adoption accelerators and business case behind some of the most innovative success stories in mobile commerce and content.
Service ProviderEstablishing a Viable Business Case for Mobile Advertising in Asia
Mobile Advertising is fast becoming the latest buzz word and hyped up topic in telecom. However there is a danger that another opportunity could be missed by the industry known to over hype most services and then fail to develop a sustainable business model. Involvement and awareness within the stakeholders such as agencies, operators, application providers and regulators is needed to ensure sustainability of mobile advertising as a viable option for brands. It should include an emphasis on campaigns delivering quantifiable results for brands, and not just an embracing of the latest technologies.

Strategies for Monetizing Content
Service ProviderContent and the Digital Value Chain: Value Added Content Based Services Over Multiple Screens
Media convergence is becoming finally a reality: content access everywhere and anywhere and with every device. One important driver for this are moving images. Catch words are Convergent TV or multi screen TV including linear TV content as well as video on demand content. Carriers are starting to integrate IPTV, mobile TV and Web TV/video offerings and build new value added services on top of it. The presentation will look at the broader issues around this new TV & video world including business aspects and customer insights. The need for standards and frameworks and the TM Forum’s possible role in enabling the delivery of these services over multiple screens in the future will also be addressed.
How Service Providers’ Data Assets Can Really Pay Off in the 2.0 Era
Whether it’s twitter or app stores, 2.0 is here to stay and service providers should use their unique data assets to get their piece of the lucrative 2.0 pie. Which strategies and tools should they be using to centralize and monetize the data? What’s the best way for them to enter a new, emerging apps value chain which involves opening up their data to third-party developers?
Monetizing Content: Creating Subscriber Value and Revenue Opportunities
Demand for viewing premium content on mobile devices is growing with each new device release. Operators have the technology to authorize and allow the viewing of cable content on any device, so how can this content be monetized to drive revenue growth? This presentation will show how robust, personal subscriber profiles can be used to provide personalized ads and campaigns, bringing value to the subscriber and revenue to the operator.

Hybrid scenario is one which is picking up recently, mix of pre-paid and post paid for the same subscriber based on time of the day, services, short code prefixed to dialed digits, usage. Focus is on providing integrated E2E B/OSS solution to support for above business scenarios – supporting multi channels and CDMA 2000 EVDO (data), GSM (voice) technologies, leveraging the same stack.
The Launching of a Fully Unified BSS Architecture in Record Time: GTEL Mobile, Vietnam
GTEL Mobile needed to differentiate itself from existing players in the Vietnam marketplace by launching their new services quickly. This session will highlight how GTEL Mobile, a Greenfield operator in Vietnam, built a high performance IT infrastructure and mobile network with a range of business solutions. Attendees will learn how GTEL, IBM and Comverse took an SOA approach to quickly develop a cost effective integration of their billing, customer care and value-added services.
Service ProviderIntelligently Using Customer Data Across BSS Boosts Revenue and the Customer Experience
Intelligently using customer data across BSS boosts revenue and the customer experience. In this presentation three service provider case studies describe how effective use of data in online real-time charging, revenue intelligence and converged policy management can generate and protect revenue. For example, one case study from Latin America shows how a leading mobile group is using real-time charging combined with policy management and activation to improve their customer’s data services experience and gain competitive advantage.

Service ProviderFrom Idea-to-Launch: An Operators Story
Globe Telecom has successfully deployed an SDP which bridges both service delivery and OSS/BSS Business Process Management on one common NGOSS based environment. The solution has enabled Globe to automate processes that enable Promo’s consisting of many bundled products to be rolled out in days rather than the 35 weeks it was taking before and at substantially lower cost. Agility has been achieved using SOA and building Promo’s in BPEL (Business Process Execution Language), avoiding costly IN changes.
Service ProviderManaging the Future Telematics Regulatory Environment: Facing WiMAX, LTE, Broadcasting and Transactions
This presentation will examine competition as it has forced resources to be assigned exclusively and thus forming a scarcity model. The assignment of limited resources has become more critical making the license processes to become more significant. On the other hand 4G is the emerging technology which is able to provide broadband services for telecommunication as well as dealing with broadcasting and transaction issues seamlessly.
Cloud Computing; Re-using Communication Core Strengths
Cloud Computing is set to revolutionize the delivery model for products and services and unleash unimaginable developer creativity for innovative solutions. This presentation will explore how the telecommunications community is well poised to reuse many of their core strengths in communications and the prerequisites of the underlying infrastructure. It will include micro-transaction billing and complex revenue sharing to establish a firm place in the cloud ecosystem, not just as a supplier of services into the cloud, but as the operator of the underlying business transaction platform, managing the flow of revenues among the different players. It will also examine customer case studies.

Service ProviderNew Paradigm in Telecom Operations Support - A Success Story
HCL partnered with British Telecom in designing an innovative Telecom Operations Support Framework with the focus on the accuracy and timeliness of service delivered utilising the TM Forum Applications Framework (TAM) and Service Delivery Framework (SDF). The presentation illustrates the salient features of this model and the strategic initiatives which have produced tangible values such as 50% reduction in the number of incidents, 45% reduction in cycle time and sizable improvements in many other metrics.
From Complex, Coupling to Open, Simple and Intelligent: BSS for Business Transformation
Evolving telecom technologies coupled with a dynamic market situation in developed economies, and legacy systems hardly afford to suffice the fast changing business requirements of Service Providers, creating extensive complexity. So transformation becomes the inevitable solution to this large and intricate problem; to build an open architecture based on NGOSS/eTOM/SID that can smoothly support emerging new services, technologies and efficient business processes to enhance operation efficiency and reduce cost.
Telecom Transformation Theories and Best Practices: A Joint Perspective of Enterprise IT Architecture and Change Management
This presentation reviews the enterprise transformation theories, the trends and challenges in Telecommunication industry, investigates the major enterprise architecture methodogies and frameworks relevant to enterprise transformation, such as BTMF/MDA/ SOA/NGOSS/Telco 2.0, and their value, role and usage in transformation. This research also discusses the best practices and lessons from the real Telecom Transformation initiatives to give valuble insights and guidances to Telecom transformation journey from a joint enterprise IT architecture and change management perspective.
