The TM Forum Board of Directors is comprised of senior executives from a global cross section of the industry, including leading service providers, solution suppliers and systems integrators. Their role is to shape and set the strategic direction for the organization. Priorities for appointment: The priorities for appointments to the Board this year have been to strengthen the representation of service providers with a particular emphasis on broadening the types of provider driving the Forum’s direction as the digital services market becomes increasingly expands. An additional priority has been to increase represenation from high growth geographic markets. Priority is given to companies and individuals demonstrating full commitment to the work of the Forum and wishing to rapidly drive IT and process standardization for the management of digital services. New directors appointed for 2012-2014: The following individuals were appointed as members of the Board at the Annual Meeting of Members which took place on 25th October 2011. They will serve for a 2 year period commencing January 2012. Board seats are held by individuals (not their companies) and represent the interests of all members. New Board Directors David Burton, Chief Technology Officer and Director Allied Command Transformation, NATO; Holland. In this capacity he has responsibility for driving program and technical coherence of capability programs across the 28 national countries that comprise NATO, developing strategic and technical roadmaps for change and liaising closely with nations and national Industries to support the implementation of Network Enabled Capabilities. Previously with the Royal Marines and senior posts within UK Defence. Dr Che Haiping – CTO, Huawei Software, China. Dr. Che's responsibilities include the technical direction of all of Huawei’s software business including BSS/OSS, value added applications, core network and IT. Dr Che joined in Huawei on July 1997, has participated in development of 2G/3G mobile Core Network (CS/PS/IMS), VAS Enablers (SMSC/IN), Prepaid Solution, etc., and been awarded the First Grade Prize of China National Technology Advancement. Michael Matthews - Head of Strategy and Business Development, Nokia Siemens Networks; Finland. Michael directs the NSN’s strategic planning and investments; M&A program; strategic alliances and partnerships and reports directly to the company’s CEO. Previously Michael was Chief Marketing Officer at Amdocs Ltd and was one of the founders of Groove Networks. Karl Penaluma - President 21st Century Transformation Program, BT Group; UK. Karl is responsible for a number of BT’s platforms, mostly network but also IT service management platforms. He has overall responsibility for the integrity, stability and security of the 21C network and also acts as Chief Architect. Don Rae, Senior Vice President - Group Business Development & Regional Operations, Axiata Group Berhad; Malaysia. Don is responsible for managing the performance of regional operating companies, driving IT strategy and group transformation initiatives across the Axiata Group - one of Asia’s largest operators with over 168 million mobile subscribers in Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Singapore and India. Don was previously COO at Smart Communications and PLDT in the Philippines; CEO with Essar Telecom Business Group in India and a Partner at Deloitte & Touche. Dean Walters - Chief Information Officer and Managing Director, UPC Liberty Global – Holland. Dean is responsible for driving IT and operations across Liberty Global, the leading international cable operator with businesses in 10 European countries. Previously he was Chief Information and Technology Officer for satellite TV operator AUSTAR in Australia. Returning Directors Mark Francis, Vice President Operations, AT&T; USA. Mark's responsibilities include management of AT&T's Global Network Operations Center and for network continuity, contingency planning, and disaster recovery of AT&T Network Services infrastructure worldwide including voice, data services, and humanitarian relief deployments for wireline and wireless networks. He has served on the TM Forum Board of Directors for 6 years. Kenneth Frank, EVP & President, Solutions, Alcatel-Lucent; USA. Kenneth has responsibility for strategic solutions on behalf Alcatel-Lucent encompassing Multimedia Solutions, Cloud Solutions for Service Providers and IP Multimedia Subsystem solutions. Previously Kenneth was President of Alcatel-Lucent’s Professional Services Business Division and has held senior leadership roles at Masergy Communications, Zephion Networks/Broadband Office, BellSouth and Bell Laboratories. He has served on the TM Forum Board of Directors for 3 years. Albert Hitchcock, Group Chief Information Officer, Vodafone; UK. Albert is responsible for the Technology Information Services Organisation within Vodafone and its Operating Companies and accountable for the IT Strategy and the Operations of all IT functions across the group. Prior to joining Vodafone, Albert was Global CIO with Nortel. He has been named to the Information Week list of most innovative users of IT and amongst GTB’s 100 most influential people in the communications industry. He has served on the TM Forum Board of Directors for 3 years. Gene Reznik, Global Managing Director, Communications Industry, Accenture; USA. Gene oversees the development of Accenture’s strategies and capabilities for serving the wireline, wireless and cable segments across most of the world’s largest service providers. Prior to his current role, Gene was the global managing director of Accenture’s Communications and High-Tech Strategy Practice and also led Accenture’s Communications Network Practice. He has served on the TM Forum Board of Directors for 3 years. Scott Stainken, General Manager, Global Telecommunications Industry, IBM; USA. Scott has responsibility for the telecommunications industry across IBM including helping IBM’s clients drive convergence in the telecommunications, media and entertainment, IT and consumer electronics industries. Scott has held several global leadership positions including: General Manager Wireless, responsible for IBM’s mobility initiatives worldwide and Vice President Global Telecommunications Industry. He has served on the TM Forum Board of Directors for 3 years.
