New Board Appointments

Conference Room at TM Forum HeadquartersThe role of the TM Forum Board of Directors is to set the strategic direction for the Forum and is made up of senior executives from a global cross section of the industry. This includes leading users, service providers, solution suppliers and systems integrators from a range of countries around the world.

As our industry continues to expand, companies everywhere work to become digital enterprises and the services that the Forum provides become more and more important and relevant to a wide set of communities and members, the Board needs to ensure it continues to reflect these needs.

New Board members. In accordance with the TM Forum Bylaws, the following individuals were ratified as new members of the Board for a two year period at the Annual Meeting of Members which took place on Tuesday 7 October 2014. In line with New Jersey law, Board seats are held by individuals not their companies.


New Board Director:

Cynthia Gordon, Group Chief Commercial Officer, Ooredoo Group
Cynthia is responsible for strategic direction and operational performance of the various commercial functions across the group. Much of her time is spent on activities to optimize performance and developing commercial talent at group and country level. Cynthia has more than 20 years of experience at leading mobile, broadband and fixed-line operations in both emerging and developed markets. Before joining Ooredoo Group, she had leading roles at Orange in both consumer and business segments. Prior to that she was Group Chief Commercial Officer from 2007-2009 at MTS in Russia and CIS, which had 91 million customers in six countries. She led the commercial strategy and direction for the company, including the expansion into India. She also built the global brand to be the first Russian brand in the Financial Times top 100 global brand list.

Cynthia is a non-executive director for Indosat, the largest Ooredoo subsidiary, and is a Freeman of the City of London

Returning Board Directors:

Liu Aili, Executive Vice President & Board Member - China Mobile Communications
Mr. Liu Aili is the Executive Vice President of China Mobile Communications. Currently, Mr. Liu's responsibility focus is on network O&M, enterprise IT infrastructure deployment, information security management, etc. in China Mobile.

Previously Mr Liu was responsible for China Mobile’s business expansion and M&A execution including acquisition of overseas telecom operators and exploration of opportunities along the value chain. These efforts included acquiring "Peoples", an operator in Hong Kong and Paktel Limited, a local mobile operator in Pakistan as well as major stakes in media company, Phoenix and Far Eastone Telecommunications. Mr Liu is a professor-level senior engineer with over 27 years of experience in the telecommunications industry.











Bob De Haven - General Manager, Worldwide Communications and Media, Microsoft
Bob De Haven is general manager of Microsoft’s Worldwide Communications and Media sector. In this role, he is responsible for identifying trends and opportunities in the Communications and Media sector, partner strategy, strategic investments, field readiness and engagement, and integration with business groups within Microsoft. He is also focused on standards body engagement, marketing programs, and executive sales support.

Prior to his current role, De Haven held several positions within the Communications and Media sector, most recently leading sales, marketing and business operations in the United States. He has 25 years of sales and management experience ranging from creating and developing a sales-force and business plan for a successful healthcare “start-up,” to running large hardware and software sales teams calling on Fortune 20 accounts. His expansive background of individual contributor roles, direct and second-line sales leadership, and channel development with partners and systems integrators also includes running a successful sales team calling on one of the largest media & entertainment properties in Content Development & Distribution (AOL-Time Warner). Bob and his teams have won numerous awards including the FY2006 Communications Sector Worldwide Leader of the Year.













Alpna J Doshi, Chief Information Officer - Reliance Communications
Alpna is Chief Information Officer for Reliance Communications and CEO of Reliance Tech Services. Recently awarded the “Woman CIO of the Year 2010” award by CTO Forum India she has broken through the glass ceiling. She has been honored by IEEE Communications for her pioneering work in telecommunications and is a frequently invited keynote speaker at major Indian and international conferences.

Prior to Reliance, Alpna was at Mahindra Satyam; Telcordia Technologies and Deloitte and Touche Management Consulting where she led successful initiatives in telecom, media and entertainment operators such as Verizon. She has been an active contributor to TM Forum for over seven years and also served as an honorary officer and Board Member for over five years. She is an active contributor in directing standards for multinationals including DAVIC (video consortium), ATM Forum, IPv6, IEEE and CSI.













Ulf Ewaldsson - Senior VP, Group CTO and Head of Group Function Technology, Ericsson
Ulf Ewaldsson was appointed to his current position at Ericsson on February 1, 2012. Previously, he was Head of Product Area Radio at Ericsson’s Business Unit Networks. In this position, which he held from January 2007 until February 2012, he was instrumental in helping to create some of the products that reflect Ericsson’s technology leadership, such as HSPA and LTE in the radio-access network; the multi-standard RBS 6000; and the antenna-integrated radio unit.

Ewaldsson is the chairman of Ericsson’s Research Board, a member of Lund University Board and the Ericsson-LG Board in Korea. He is involved in the European strategic work regarding ICT and Telecom taking part in the European Cloud Partnership Steering Board and the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities (EIP SCC) headed by the European Commission in Brussels. He has more than 20 years of experience in product management, industry development and customer relations, which has taken him to leadership positions at Ericsson in China, Japan, Hungary and Sweden.
Ewaldsson was born in Skåne in southern Sweden in 1965. He graduated with an MSc in Engineering and Business Management from Linköping Institute of Technology in Sweden.













Bhaskar Gorti - Senior Vice President & General Manager, Oracle Communications, Oracle
Bhaskar Gorti is senior vice president and general manager of Oracle Communications, responsible for Oracle’s industry-specific communications solutions—from cross-channel customer experience and business and operational support systems to network service and session delivery and control solutions—enabling service providers and enterprises to deliver and monetize innovative digital services, build strong customer relationships, and streamline operations. Prior to joining Oracle, Gorti served as CEO of Portal Software, having previously led the company’s global sales, marketing and alliances, and services and support organizations.

Erik Hoving - Group Chief Technology Officer, KPN Group
Erik Hoving is currently Group Chief Technology Officer of KPN Group. Previously, he was Chief Strategy, Innovation & Technology Officer of KPN Group and CTO & CEO Netco at KPN Mobile International.

Prior to joining KPN in 2008, Mr Hoving was the CEO of Zenitel NV in Brussels. Before that he worked for more than a decade as management consultant, first at Arthur D. Little and afterwards at the Monitor Group. He started his career at AT&T Network System.

Mr Hoving is a Dutch national and holds an MBA from Erasmus University Rotterdam and a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Delft.

Phil Jordan – Group CIO, Telefonica O2
Phil Jordan is a proven Global IT Leader / CIO in the Comms and High Tech Industry. He has a successful leadership track record and is renowned for exploiting the value of IT in major global companies. He spent 12+ years at Vodafone culminating as Regional CIO. In 2010, he joined Telefonica as CIO for O2 UK. In less than one year, he was promoted to Group CIO covering 20 countries, and a multi-billion annual IT budget. In addition to his G-CIO responsibilities, he is also Chairman of Telefonica's global technology company.

Under his leadership, Telefonica has had key successes in radical business simplification, building and exploiting unique and world class Datacenters, global shared services to optimise IT spend and in the transformation of the application landscape to enable the business vision: to be the best Digital Telecommunications company in the world.

He is a member of the board of directors for the TMForum and an independent advisor on IT to a major banking and financial services company.

Rami Schwartz - President, Amdocs Product Business Group (PBG), OSS & Digital Services
Rami Schwartz was appointed as President of Amdocs’ Product Business Group (PBG), OSS & Digital Services in December 2010. He has 25 years of executive and entrepreneurial experience including a vast knowledge of product and software development involving large, complex systems. He served for many years in the Israeli Air Force, most recently as Chief of System Development and prior to that leading the development of all operational systems.

In recent years, Rami founded and led several successful start-up companies in the fields of computer software, information and technology, and venture capital.

Rami has a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem.

Pascal Viginier – Chief Information Officer, Orange Group
Since April 2010, Pascal Viginier has led IT strategy at Orange, in his position as Group CIO. He graduated from “Ecole Polytechnique” in 1976, and from “Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications” (Télécom Paris) in 1981. He is also a graduate of “Institut d’Administration des Entreprises” (IAE, 1989).

Pascal Viginier has built up his experience over more than 30 years at France Telecom-Orange in the fields of IT, research and development, sales and marketing. He was appointed Head of Research and Development in 1998 – transforming the CNET into France Telecom R&D with 4 300 researchers in 15 laboratories worldwide; Director of Sales for France in 2006 – developing sales and market share for Orange mass market broadband and mobile services, in 1 100 points of sale, call centres and online sales;
Director of Operations for France in 2008 – managing all the activities of 105 operational units in the sales, services and networks sectors with a workforce of 70 000.

From 2009 to 2010, he was in charge of preparing the merger between Orange and
T-Mobile in the United Kingdom, which led to the creation of the new company, Everything Everywhere, the n°1 mobile operator in the UK.

Keith Willetts – Independant
Keith Willetts is the Founder of the TM Forum and as Chairman and CEO, guided its development from an idea to over 1000 member companies. Previously with British Telecom in the UK and California based TCSI, he has also run a successful consulting company advising service providers, software and technology companies around the world. He is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading authorities on digital business transformation; is a regular speaker and writer authoring the influential books “The Lean Communications Provider” and “Unzipping the Digital World”.

His achievements have been internationally recognized, being voted in the Top 100 most influential people in the communications industry on multiple occasions; awarded the GTB lifetime achievement award; honored twice in the Communications Week “Top 25” awards for industry visionaries; awarded the British Computer Society’s Gold Medal for innovation and the BT Gold Medal for innovation.
