Performance Management

Description and purpose:

In the context of multi-vendor, multi-technologies networks, it is essential that the Service Provider have a consistent view of the performance and utilization of the entire network and need to be able to monitor the entire network as well as the Quality of the Services flowing through the network. 

The objective of this team is to consolidate the underlying requirements behind PM Information interfaces across different domains & technologies involved in rendering services.

Maintenance of the TM Forum OSS/J and TM Forum MTOSI PM interfaces is also under the responsibility of this team.

Scope of the Project

The Scope of the interface includes Production, Monitor, Control and Collection of Performance related information in all system.

The scope of the PM interface is highlighted on the figure below with main processes in yellow, participating processes in light yellow and interfaces in red. Click on the image below to see a larger version.

The interface takes into account OSS/J, MTOSI, 3GPP and ITU-T standards on Performance Management to create a harmonized interface which meets the underlying requirements and take cognizance of the information model of wire line and wireless technologies.

It is also expected that these interfaces will be basic building blocks of future contracts.

Business Benefits
A consistent and unified Performance Management interface aids in efficient planning, provisioning, maintenance and the measurement of quality of services rendered and enable timely proactive action. Performance Management is the key that ensures that the Service Providers can provide guaranteed and differentiated services to their customers.

The PM interface provide a set of management interfaces harmonized between OSS/J, MTOSI and 3GPP that can be used as basis for inter-operation between heterogeneous components deployed in a Service Provider environment.
