New programs announced at Management World 2012 prepare TM Forum members for the onslaught of digital service opportunities
Management World 2012, Dublin, Ireland—May 22, 2012— During today’s opening keynotes at TM Forum’s flagship conference, Management World 2012, TM Forum’s chairman Keith Willetts told a packed audience that the digital economy and disruptive technologies are forcing service providers to rethink their core business models.
To allow service providers to take advantage of the market opportunities created by the digital economy, TM Forum today announced a set of programs that underscore its commitment to enabling a vibrant digital ecosystem for its members. These programs will help service providers around the globe rapidly transform their business operations and drive profits.
Innovation Roundtables and New Online Channel
To explore new service development trends and help service providers overcome the associated challenges with deploying services such as cloud, eHealth, M2M, Smart Grid and more, TM Forum is planning a global series of innovation-focused executive roundtables and surveys with leading service providers. TM Forum will subsequently report the roundtable and survey findings through a new online channel hosted at www.tmforum.org and in a new annual publication, Innovations, both to be launched later this year.
Innovation Accelerator Program
Because the best innovation often occurs in small businesses, free of the constraints of corporate process and culture, the new challenges presented by managing digital services across extended value-chains require out-of-the-box thinking. TM Forum’s new Innovation Accelerator program designed for start-up companies puts innovative new products and services that help enable digital services in the spotlight. The program will deliver what TM Forum does best: an ecosystem for successful partnerships and business to drive fresh thinking and collaboration.
The Right Standards for Today and Tomorrow
As new services only increase the importance and complexity of service provider IT, TM Forum’s Frameworx 12 suite of standards, released today, incorporates new features to enable rapid new service creation, delivery and management in complex value-chains. The new suite is the most comprehensive set of best practices to date with over 800 new processes in the Business Process Framework and 300 new mappings across the frameworks. Created to enable service provider agility and efficiency, Frameworx 12 addresses critical issues including security, customer experience management, software enabled services, streamlined fulfillment and cloud service level agreement management.
“The digital economy creates endless opportunities for revenue growth. Those companies that transform quickly will succeed,” said Martin Creaner, President and CEO, TM Forum. “The programs we are announcing today drive collaborative innovation and provide the tools service providers need to overcome service management challenges so that they are able to rapidly define and seize a plethora of opportunities. After all, enabling the new digital services ecosystem is a natural progression of what TM Forum is already known for—providing the right environment for collaboration and sharing of expertise in service creation, delivery and management.”
Separately today TM Forum also announced the launch of a remarkable new book by Keith Willetts, Founder and Chairman of the TM Forum. “Unzipping the Digital World,” captures a lifetime of Willetts’ experience in the communications and software world to give an eye-opening view into how the rapidly evolving digital economy is permanently changing the world.
