MORRISTOWN, NJ —November 30, 2011: Today, TM Forum announced that in 2012, six new members will join its Board of Directors.The addition of the new Directors accurately reflects TM Forum’s rapidly growing membership as communications and other sectors, including defense communications, converge. These new Directors bring a wealth of knowledge to an already stellar group that sets strategy, direction and priorities for the TM Forum’s 850-plus member companies.
As a not-for-profit organization, TM Forum’s Board of Directors represents a balance of member industry sectors and geographies through highly experienced senior executives, 60% of whom represent service providers. The new appointees of the TM Forum Board of Directors include:
- David Burton, Chief Technology Officer and Director Allied Command Transformation, NATO
Mr. Burton is responsible for driving program and technical coherence of capability programs across the 28 national countries that comprise NATO. - Don Rae, Senior Vice President, Group Business Development and Regional Operations, Axiata Group Berhad
Mr. Rae is responsible for managing the performance of regional operating companies, driving IT strategy and group transformation initiatives across the Axiata Group. - Dean Walters, Chief Information Officer and Managing Director, UPC Liberty GlobalMr. Walters is responsible for driving IT and operations across Liberty Global, the leading international cable operator with businesses in 10 European countries.
- Dr. Che Haiping, Chief Technology Officer, Huawei Software
Dr. Che’s responsibilities include the technical direction of all of Huawei’s software business including BSS/OSS, value-added applications, core network and IT.
- Michael Matthews, Head of Strategy and Business Development, Nokia Siemens Networks
Mr. Matthews directs the NSN’s strategic planning and investments; M&A program; strategic alliances and partnerships and reports directly to the company’s CEO.
- Karl Penaluma, President, 21st Century Transformation Program, BT Group
Mr. Penaluma is responsible for a number of BT’s platforms, including network and IT service management platforms.

Board members are appointed by TM Forum’s members at the Annual Meeting of Members based on a slate of nominees proposed by the Board’s Nominating Committee. Detailed oversight of the Forum is devolved to the Board’s Executive Committee.
