Course Description (NGOSS Distilled- 1-day):
This course is intended to provide students with an over view of the NGOSS framework and its key components: the eTOM, the SID, the technology neutral architecture and the application map. The course contains a suite of new practical exercises to help the assimilation of these topics. The course will cover the NGOSS lifecycle and recent work in the area of compliance but it will not provide a step by step deployment methodology.

Intended for: OSS/BSS professionals who are involved in developing BSS/OSS solutions using NGOSS methodologies. These include: Solution architects, analysts, modelers, developers, and integrators.

Pre-requisites:
None

Length: One day

Technology Being Taught: NGOSS at an introductory level.

Highlights: This course covers all aspects of TeleManagement Forum’s (TM Forum) NGOSS toolkit. Comprehensive practical examples of NGOSS usage from companies such as Motorola, Itelliden and Metasolv are included in the course.

Upon completion, delegates will be able to:

  • Identify all the components of NGOSS and the relationship between them;
  • Understand NGOSS lifecycle and methodology;
  • Understand basic concepts of eTOM and the SID, and their relationship to NGOSS Understand NGOSS architecture (Technology-Neutral and Technology-Specific).

Agenda:

  • TM-Forum and NGOSS overview;
  • NGOSS core elements;
  • NGOSS methodology and lifecycle;
  • NGOSS compliance and conformance;
  • NGOSS practical work is dispersed through the day.

Course Description (TM Forum Information Framework (SID) Distilled -1-day):
This course provides an overview of NGOSS and three of its cornerstones: the TM Forum Business Process Framework (eTOM), the TM Forum Information Framework (SID), and the Technology-Neutral Architecture. It demonstrates the inherent and strong relationships between the Information Framework (SID) and the overall NGOSS architecture and demonstrates how the (SID) framework is used as the ‘Language’ of NGOSS. The (SID) framework is explained in detail and students are taken on a guided tour of the currently developed (SID) domains.

Intended for: This course is intended for people actively engaged in the analysis and design of OSS/BSS solutions using NGOSS and the TM Forum Information Framework (SID). In particular people involved in information modeling and solution architectures. It is a pre-requisite for Information Framework (SID) certification.

Pre-requisites:
Familiarity with UML or other modeling methods desirable; however a UML tutorial is provided if necessary.

Length:
One day

Technology Being Taught:
The NGOSS SID is the lingua franca for NGOSS. It is used to define in business and systems terms, the information that is utilized in OSS/BSS deployments. The SID model in its UML form is explained using real-world examples.

Upon completion, delegates will be able to:

  • Describe the need and benefits of NGOSS;
  • Describe the relationship between the TM Forum Information Framework (SID) and the NGOSS architecture;
  • Provide an overview of the Information Framework (SID);
  • Use one or more (SID) model addenda for reference in the analysis and design phases of a solution;
  • Apply (SID) modeling patterns to extend the (SID) framework;
  • Begin to use the (SID) framework for real analyses and development of OSS/BSS components.

Agenda:

  • NGOSS and the TM Forum Information Framework (SID);
  • The Information Framework (SID);
  • Documenting the (SID) framework;
  • Information Framework (SID)/Business Process Framework (eTOM) mappings and their importance;
  • Scenario-based Information Framework (SID) walkthrough;
  • Getting started with the (SID) framework;
  • Information Framework (SID) in action;
  • Information Framework (SID) futures;
  • Hands-on (SID) framework modeling exercises.

Course Description (TM Forum Information Framework (SID) Modeller's Workshop -2-day):
The industry’s adoption of the TM Forum Information Framework (SID) continues to increase. This workshop offers attendees theory and practice on the use of the Information Framework (SID). Included is how the (SID) framework can be extended and implemented by applying modeling patterns and extension guidelines. See how TM Forum members are putting the (SID) framework to use in their organizations. Learn practical guidelines on how to transform the (SID) information model to the (SID) data model. Coupled with instructor facilitated exercises through which attendees can practice newly gained skills, this workshop enables attendees to effectively put the Information Framework (SID) to use within their own organizations.

Intended for: OSS/BSS professionals including: information architects, data base administrators, enterprise solution architects, application developers, and solution providers.

Pre-requisites:

  • A general awareness of the TM Forum and its work;
  • A intermediate understanding of the Unified Modeling Language (UML);
  • A basic understanding of the TM Forum Information Framework (SID).

Length: Two days

Technology being taught:

  • Achieving NGOSS goals by using the TM Forum Information Framework (SID);
  • The application of Information Framework (SID) modeling patterns and guidelines for extending and implementing the framework;
  • Opportunities for using the (SID) framework.
  • Instructor facilitated exercises provide a student with real-world practice.

Upon completion, delegates will be able to:

  • Describe how the TM Forum Information Framework (SID) can be used to achieve NGOSS goals;
  • Describe the Information Framework (SID) modeling patterns and how they can be used;
  • Employ the guidelines when extending/implementing the framework;
  • Transform the (SID) information model to the (SID) data model;
  • Identify opportunities for using the (SID) framework;
  • Quantitatively justify the use of the (SID) framework.
