A service creation environment that can dynamically drive front and back office systems will dramatically improve the overall product and service lifecycle management function. This catalyst sets out to take a typical OSS/BSS functional architecture and show how dynamic product and service creation can be achieved with little or no impact on customer or network facing systems, therefore reducing costs and time to market.
The catalyst focuses on demonstrating how a service provider front and back office can become agile by decoupling the included BSS and OSS applications from service and product specific intelligence. Centralizing product and service rules, data and process into a small number of lifecycle management applications and tools effectively decouples the product and service lifecycle management intelligence from individual applications and enabling an agile factory. Centralizing this intelligence allows ease of service and product design but understanding how to communicate this intelligence in terms understood by front and back office applications will aid in product and service delivery and enablement. The project will address how a full service lifecycle can be managed and amended as needed using aspects of service lifecycle management.
