TM Forum is pleased to announce the winners of the prestigious 2009 Excellence Awards, as announced Wednesday during Management World’s opening keynote session.

More than 40 leading companies from across the industry including, for the first time, entries from the Cable and online services sectors, battled for a place in the finals. “We’ve raised the bar this year, asking each entrant to demonstrate innovative and cost-effective transformation, with quantifiable results,” says Nik Willetts, VP Communications, TM Forum. “I’m pleased to say the membership has risen to the challenge, and each nominee clearly showed the value of TM Forum standards, delivering significant cost and risk reductions through a range of innovative transformation programs.”
Colin Orviss, chair of the 2009 Excellence Awards judging panel and Senior Vice President of Patni Telecoms Consulting, echoes this sentiment, saying that both the quantity and quality of the submissions this year have been outstanding. “All of the submissions fulfilled the criteria of demonstrating value from using the Forum programs, therefore, making the selection process that much more difficult.”
Orviss adds that the judging panel was looking for companies that had demonstrated real business value, including improved financial savings. “We didn’t just want to hear about theory; we wanted to see real demonstrated business value.”
With such stiff competition, both Chunghwa Telecom and NetCracker Technology should be congratulated for coming out on top.
In addition, to these prestigious industry awards, TM Forum also presented awards to two outstanding contributors to the organization’s work over the years. This year’s Distinguished Fellow awards went to Tom Forsyth, Director of Marketing, Service Delivery Solutions, Telcordia and Karl Wilhelm Siebert, Director, Regional Network & Operations, Vodafone.
“These Distinguished Fellow awards are TM Forum’s highest individual honors,” says Martin Creaner, President of TM Forum. “In the past 20 years, we’ve only given out 16 of these awards, so we’re pleased to award 2 more this morning to such worthy candidates.”
