TM Forum Excellence Awards: Crowning the Best of the Best

Since 2007, the TM Forum Excellence Awards have recognized global leaders in operational excellence and acknowledged the contributions that continue to take the communications industry in new and innovative directions.

The finalists for this year’s awards, which will be presented during this morning’s opening keynote session, are:

Best Practices – Service Providers
Suppliers/System Integrators Finalists
Best Practices –Suppliers / System Integrators
Suppliers/System Integrators Finalists

The twist this year is that while the Service Provider award will be determined by an expert panel of judges, the Supplier/SI award will be determined by Service Provider members of TM Forum who took part in the voting process. “We've chosen this approach to ensure that this is truly an impartial award where the winners have won on genuine merit rather being endorsed by friends or internal champions within an organization,” says Colin Orviss, chair of the 2009 Excellence Awards judging panel and Senior Vice President of Patni Telecoms Consulting. “This award therefore, from my perspective, is something that the winner and the short-listed companies should be proud of since it is their peers in the industry who have recognized their accomplishments.”

More than 40 leading companies from across the industry including, for the first time, entries from the Cable and online services sectors, battled for a place in the finals. “We’ve raised the bar this year, asking each entrant to demonstrate innovative and cost-effective transformation, with quantifiable results,” says Nik Willetts, VP Communications, TM Forum. “I’m pleased to say the membership has risen to the challenge, and each nominee clearly shows the value of TM Forum standards, delivering significant cost and risk reductions through a range of innovative transformation programs.”

Orviss echoes this sentiment, saying both the quantity and quality of the submissions this year have been outstanding. “All of the submissions fulfilled the criteria of demonstrating value from using the Forum programs, therefore, making the selection process that much more difficult.”

Don’t miss this morning’s keynote session, starting at 9 a.m. at the Apollon theatre in Agora 2.
