Supplier Heavyweights Line Up Behind the TM Forum’s Prosspero Program
NICE, France - May 22, 2007 – The TM Forum announced today that its Prosspero program has reached a new milestone: leading suppliers of OSS/BSS systems are jointly announcing the increased roll-out of Prosspero Approved interfaces on their commercial products. The TM Forum’s Prosspero program ensures that key components are in place to accelerate the adoption of open interfaces developed by the TMF and other standards bodies.
“Developing one-off integrations for every customer is expensive and time consuming for any software product vendor who needs to build once and deploy multiple times” said Martin Creaner President of TM Forum. “Not only that, custom integration needs to happen every time any of the products in the chain get upgraded, so it’s a permanent tax on the industry of time, money. and risk. Prosspero provides ready built and tested open interfaces allowing rapid integration for the most common types of systems used to automate business processes. It is mutually beneficial for vendors and Service Providers, and provides a mechanism to ensure that standards are developed for real market needs.”
Growing Industry Demand and Adoption
Vendors that have announced products that contain Prosspero Approved interfaces include: Telcordia, HP, Ericsson, Amdocs and Ascom. This support is in response to growing Service Provider requirements to utilise open industry standards to radically reduce the cost, time and risks of integrating multiple operational and management systems.
The growing adoption of interfaces in the Prosspero program by vendors and service providers is evidence that Prosspero is moving swiftly to become the industry standard for management interface standards. Within a short time there is now both Service Provider and major vendor support for the program from the largest organisations.
TM Forum announced in March that the world’s largest fixed and mobile service providers are backing the Prosspero program and convening in a strategic meeting in Nice France on May 21st to discuss new ways of driving the adoption of standard Prosspero Approved interfaces to the greater industry. Operators include AT&T, British Telecom, China Mobile,Telecom Italia, France Telecom/ Orange, NTT ,Reliance, Time Warner, Telia Sonera, Telefonica, UPC, Virgin Group and Vodafone.
