TM Forum Training

Interface Development Tooling Workshop

A number of Interface Development tools are available to help those who are specifying and adopting standard TM Forum Interfaces being created within the Interface Program. The tooling is significantly increases the speed and quality of interface specification and revision across the TM Forum Frameworx Integration program.

This workshop is intended to provide a working introduction for potential users of the TM Forum Interface Tooling.

At the finish of the workshop, the audience should have a broad appreciation of the features and benefits of the tooling and how it can be used to specify, extend or implement a TM Forum interface. The workshop will provide users with enough knowledge to confidently install and begin familiarizing themselves with the tooling prior to designing their own interfaces or actively participating in Interface Specification teams.
Who should attend?
The Workshop is targeting the audience:
  • Interface Program Team members planning to use the tooling to specify and document an interface.
  • Service Providers, Integrators, Equipment Vendors and other Standards Organizations wishing to evaluate the tooling for their own purposes.
  • Enterprise Architects, Development Managers and Interface Specifiers.
  • Developers who may have to develop a working interface or a Reference Implementation (RI) or Compatibility Test Kit(CTK).
Level
Intermediate – workshop
Delivery
1 day classroom based
Prerequisites
Students should bring a laptop with them to the course in order to install the tooling and run some basic interface design exercises.
Highlights
The goals of this course will be to:
  • Introduce newcomers to the benefits of the tooling and set the tooling in the context of the wider interface program
  • Overview the features and usage of the of the key tool components
  • Describe through a worked example the process by which an interface can be specified using the Frameworx Information Model (SID) as a starting point.
  • Describe from a non-developer perspective how the tooling is set up and an initial project is created
  • Introduce at a basic level the capabilities of the CTK and RI generation modules
  • Provide pointers for getting started and getting further help.
By the completion of the workshop the students will be able to:
  • understand the rationale and benefits of using the tooling
  • understand the role and relationship between the components in the tool chain
  • understand the supported interface design patterns
  • appreciate how the Frameworx model is used to create a new interface
