This document presents a tentative analysis of three Inventory Interfaces, which have been developed independently by different organizations; two of them are now promoted by the TM Forum and the third one is a 3GPP standard. They are:
- MTOSI MRI (Managed Resource Inventory) which was specified as part of the release 2.0 and published in May 2009
- OSSJ JSR 142 Inventory API V1.2, which was released in August 2007.
- 3GPP Inventory
These Interfaces target the same goal, which is to reduce the integration cost for the interactions between inventory systems and other OSS components, but approaching the problem very differently.
The target audience is anybody who is active in the TM Forum TIP community and has interest in the Inventory field and also the community of software architects who want to understand the pros and cons of the two approaches before taking any decision for a project implementation.
