The QoS Aspects of IPsphere (TR157) describes the entities used by IPsphere to represent network and connectivity resources and their functional capabilities in an abstract way from the inter-domain perspective. The purpose of these entities is to enable specification and realization of end-to-end cross-domain transport services with QoS guarantees.
In particular, the document defines and describes how service providers can publish information about transport services, which can be components of cross-domain transport services, via the IPsphere Framework, and how that information can subsequently be used to request the realization of these published transport service components in the construction of a cross-domain transport service. Such requests result in control of network elements and actions by policy management systems in the domains supporting the service components in order to provide end-to-end QoS guarantees across several service provider domains.
The IPsphere Framework supports the exchange of information about available transport services components between IPsphere partners.
