|  Case Study – Integrating Outside Plant Processes under SOA in Oi - a Large Brazilian Telecom Operator
This case will present a methodology for applying e-TOM defined business processes into Oi, a large telecom operator in Brazil. This methodology proved to be very effective in order to integrate a very large operations scenario using SOA. We will present the main processes, the underlying architecture and the lessons learned. With the results of this work, Oi is now able to create new services and extending others to satisfy the needs of its competitive market.
Sergio Freitas has a degree in Electrical Engineering and works at Oi for the last 14 years. He is currently the OSS Service Fulfillment Manager at IT Department and has large experience in planning, design, development, integration and deployment of OSS. He also lectures Requirement Management at Santa Ursula University for Computer Engineering.
 Next Gen and Beyond – Effective Strategies for Technology Transformation
For most providers the Next Generation Network is here, as well as, the task of managing and monetizing that asset while maintaining the legacy environment through its natural (end-of-) lifecycle. Transforming OSS/BSS infrastructure to handle new services without impacting existing revenue streams is paramount. Achieving customer satisfaction and cost reduction are two central elements of telecom business today. Customers demand next generation bundled services and operators must meet customer expectation by using technology transformation and integration. In this joint presentation by BH Telecom and ZIRA, we will discuss how industry standards and frameworks are used to achieve implementation of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), and also bring real experience using eTOM mapping and SID modeling for new application development.
Mrs. Samira Cerim, is the OSS/BSS Development and Operations Department, Director at BH Telecom with over 15 years of experience in the telecommunication industry. She is responsible for program delivery management of the OSS/BSS project Implementation. She is also responsible for NGOSS compliance within OSS/BSS solutions at BH Telecom.
Mrs. Sabina Selivc-Orucevic is the Executive Vice President of ZIRA Ltd with over 15 years of experience in the telecommunication industry and managing product development of enterprise software solutions. In the last two and half years, she has been focusing on Best Practice Methodologies and Standardization with a strong emphasis on Business Integration using SOA.
Primoz Rozman has been working for largest Slovenian mobile operator since 1997. He started as member of development team working on in-house built billing, charging and CRM system. Today he is Head of Billing Department, responsible for development, operational activities and compliance with technology standards.

Mr. Troup held a variety of management positions at NYNEX, Unisys, and Cap Gemini before joining Microsoft in 2004. He earned a BS at West Point and an MBA from the University of Utah.
Jenny is responsible for the OSS and BSS standards strategy development for AT&T, influencing the adoption of critical IT, Business and Service Management standards that unite next-generation infrastructure and next-generation operations and business best practices to facilitate the creation and expansion of new services for the Communication Service
Providers. Jenny brings more than 25 years of hands-on OSS/BSS
architecture design and implementation experience to the industry, she is a TM Forum distinguished fellow and the Chair of the Service Providers Leadership Council.
Mr. Lenahan leads the market direction and evolution of Telcordia’s service delivery suite, especially those related to charging, policy, content and personalization for SDP, IMS and converged network environments. His focus is on networks that enable a broad value chain to deliver a wide range of highly personalized, relevant multimedia services. Mr. Lenahan is a columnist and author of numerous papers in the areas of IMS, NGN, convergent services, and wireless services.
María Aránzazu Toro Escudero holds a Telecommunication Engineer Degree from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. She joined Telefónica R&D in 1997. As a Project Manager, he coordinated projects for the Telefónica Group and innovation projects and proposals for European and national innovation programmes in different areas: software for call centers, next generation grid, user modelling, etc. In the role of Technological Expert, she currently leads the innovation area of Business Models for Next Generation Environments, specially focused in business models for collaboration with third parties and marketplaces for open services. She participates in TMF-SDF.

Next Generation Network Strategies
|  Verizon’s implementation of a Common Element Vision in a Post Merger Environment
Verizon and Nakina Systems successfully implemented a common element management vision, resulting in groundbreaking reductions in integration times for next generation Single Stack back-office initiatives. TMF’s MTOSI standard was the key north bound interface implemented by the common element management system. An update on the evolution of Verizon’s common element management solution, this presentation looks closely at a complex multi-vendor network in post-merger (Verizon/MCI) environment, including technology challenges and required extensions to standards.
Director of Network Management and Security Testing for Verizon Technology Organization, Robert Ormsby has 19 years of telecommunications experience. NGOSS as part of NGN transformation
Next Generation Factory is the Deutsche Telekom network innovation program, covering all major transformational activities for the move to “All-IP”. It aims to enable superior customer experience, a faster and more flexible introduction of new services and a sustainable increase of efficiency in production.
NG Factory is an integrated company-wide program, consisting of several sub-programs with around 40 projects. It transforms all layers of the network, including core and access networks, the application layer as well as service and system management (NGOSS). It spans across all Deutsche Telekom business units, i.e. T-Home, T-Mobile and T-Systems. The program has a long-term focus for a sustainable transformation. Most of the new infrastructure will be in operation by the end of 2010. The decision on the subsequent migration will be based on business case and technological aspects.
The transformation of fixed and mobile networks, the parallel renewal of the BSS world and the additional requirements from product and service development put pressure on the OSS transformation. Nevertheless the move from hundreds of OSS legacy systems towards a homogeneous standards-compliant NGOSS world is crucial for a high level of automatization of the provisioning and assurance processes.
This presentation outlines the NGN transformation activities of Deutsche Telekom and the effects and requirements onto the OSS world. Transforming OSSs in a rapid changing environment is really a challenge.
Jürgen F. Hardt has been in the CTO division of Deutsche Telekom for five years. This area is put under the authority of Hamid Akhavan, a member of the executive board. Mr. Hardt is responsible for the group technology and production strategy. He is Program Director of the group NGN transformation program and transformation officer of NGOSS.
Before that he was the executive director in T-Systems GmbH for application service provisioning solutions, electronic market places as well as purchase and logistics solutions.
Mr Hardt studied electronic engineering and deals since his studies with IT and TC subjects within different positions.

Next Generation Factory is the Deutsche Telekom network innovation program, covering all major transformational activities for the move to “All-IP”. It aims to enable superior customer experience, a faster and more flexible introduction of new services and a sustainable increase of efficiency in production.
NG Factory is an integrated company-wide program, consisting of several sub-programs with around 40 projects. It transforms all layers of the network, including core and access networks, the application layer as well as service and system management (NGOSS). It spans across all Deutsche Telekom business units, i.e. T-Home, T-Mobile and T-Systems. The program has a long-term focus for a sustainable transformation. Most of the new infrastructure will be in operation by the end of 2010. The decision on the subsequent migration will be based on business case and technological aspects.
The transformation of fixed and mobile networks, the parallel renewal of the BSS world and the additional requirements from product and service development put pressure on the OSS transformation. Nevertheless the move from hundreds of OSS legacy systems towards a homogeneous standards-compliant NGOSS world is crucial for a high level of automatization of the provisioning and assurance processes.
This presentation outlines the NGN transformation activities of Deutsche Telekom and the effects and requirements onto the OSS world. Transforming OSSs in a rapid changing environment is really a challenge.

Advanced Development of Management Application (ADMA) Based on SID
For realization of complex network management applications, traditional software development methods don't meet the challenges implied by quickly changing requirements, considerably shortened delivery timeframes and reducing total cost of ownership.
As a real world example of the ADMA method, the presentation shows the development of a complex end-2-end configuration application utilizing SID as industry standard for information exchange and -transformation. Efficiency measurements, customer benefits and the ease of multi-vendor and multi-technology integrations are presented.

He has altogether 20+ years of telecommunications experience. Before joining NC3A he worked in telecommunications service provider environment where he held senior managerial positions and was responsible for network and management system development and operations. US-NATO Information Sharing for Effective NetOps in Multi-National Networks
The U.S. Defense C3 Field Office (USDC3FO) is the ASD NII agent for Network Enabled Interoperability and Technical Information Sharing between the US and NATO. To date, there have been four Technical Exchange Meetings between the US and NATO addressing major net-centric interoperability challenges. The next UNIS TEM will focus on NetOps topics. While substantial sharing and testing opportunities have resulted from this initiative, a number of areas exist in the management of multi-national coalition networks where much work remains to be accomplished.

Dan Stoenescu joined Romtelecom in December 2004 and has been working in IT System Development in very strong relationship with the business process management related organizations in several projects, mainly in Service Delivery and Service Assurance areas. He was manager of the Enterprise Architecture team in Romtelecom, team that designed the IT Transformation, part of Romtelecom IT Strategy.
His most recent achievement in Romtelecom was implementation of the Integration & Orchestration of Business Processes based on Oracle SOA Suite.
Dan Stoenescu is working in IT telecom since November 2001. He participated in ARtelecom, Romtelecom subsidiary to the DSL services launch in Romania.
Currently Dan Stoenescu is IT System Development General Manager, responsible of IT Portfolio Management (around 23 active projects), Program Manager of BSS Transformation Program and Project Manager of Orchestration and Integration Project.

Would you drive your car using the rear view mirror? So why should your IP networks be different? Reliable, predictable and secure operation of IP networks is critical for service providers. It is paradoxical therefore that most IP networks continue to be configured, provisioned and managed without any comprehensive network policy mechanism. This presentation outlines how NGOSS framework can be applied to network management solutions for defining and enforcing network-wide policies for operational, security and regulatory needs.
Gary Testa is responsible for Intelliden's worldwide sales. He brings over 18 years of domestic and international sales management experience, encompassing software and hardware sales across Enterprise, Service Provider, Cable, and Mobile markets. Prior to joining Intelliden, Gary was SVP Worldwide Sales and Services at Ditech Networks, Inc. where he repositioned the company's sales efforts toward the IP markets and delivered revenue of $90M in 2007 with 40% YoY increase. Previously, he held sales leadership positions at Aurora Networks, Gluon Networks, Quintessent, Harris Corporation and Sprint. Gary graduated from University of California at Irvine with a bachelor's degree in Russian Language and Literature.

Movistar Chile is the mobile part of the Telefonica group in Chile serving 6.8 million customers. In order to meet business requirements for operations staff efficiency, improved incident management and better multi-vendor management and integration, Movistar embarked upon a transformation in the Network Operations Center. This transformation resulted in reduced costs, greater effectiveness and higher customer satisfaction.
This presentation will describe the project undertaken from vendor selection, through network, vendors and services managed, to the benefits provided. The use of OSS through Java interface for trouble ticketing and TeMIP, a product from HP, will be addressed in detail.
ITIL & eTOM: Growing Together
Buidling on previous joint work, TM Forum and itSMF are developing closer integration between the eTOM and ITIL frameworks. Release 8,0 of the eTOM Business Process Framework embedded ITIL processes, and this panel session reports on ongoing activity including further convergence in the process area and extension to other areas of the TM Forum program (eg the SID Information Model). There will be a Q&A session with the chance to raise issues and questions for discussion.
Mike Kelly has worked with the TM Forum since its earliest days, and joined its staff some eight years ago. He is concerned with the technical collaboration program, including the Business Process Framework (eTOM), where he has been involved over its entire development and now acts as Subject Matter Expert. He is a frequent conference speaker and trainer on behalf of TM Forum for this work.
Mike has worked in telecoms for over thirty years, in software and systems design, marketing and product management. He also spent two years as an adviser to the Chief Scientist in the UK Government Cabinet Office on telecommunications and IT policy.
