Operational Challenges of Supporting Cloud Services: Part 2

Following on from yesterday, this session, held in Wicklow Hall 2B, continues to focus on the key issues surrounding the support of cloud services.

First, Andre Fuechsel, IT Architect, T-Systems Enterprise Services GmbH, explains how to migrate from providing one-of-a-kind projects to offering a cloud platform used as a basis for tailored intelligent network solutions. He looks at integrated automated provisioning, billing, customer handling, identity management and cloud hosting service for connected devices; how to enable an ecosystem for partners and application development teams to rapidly and efficiently develop and run new intelligent network solutions; and outlines the key principles of the platform and their application within Deutsche Telekom

Next, Antonio Cruz, Software Architect, SAPO (PT Comunicacoes), presents a case study entitled: Creating exceptional developer experiences; exploiting TM Forum standards to deliver innovative cloud services. Among other things, this demonstrates the drivers for enabling cloud services based on APIs allowing developers to monitor SLAs and optimise customer experience.

FInally, the interactive panel session, with speakers from cVidya Networks, TOA Technologies, RSA, Salesforce.com and Layer 7 Technologies discusses the trust versus uptake paradox. As cloud services continue to grow five times faster than traditional IT, it seems that concerns regarding security and data portability are on the rise. This session explores the roots of this paradox and the opportunities that arise by resolving these trust issues. By examining the different approaches other cloud providers utilize to address these issues, we will see how service providers, by properly understanding and addressing these concerns, can use trust concerns as a competitive advantage against many cloud providers who don’t have the carrier grade trust as one of their core competencies.
