The city of Nice is located on the French Riviera in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. The city offers pebbled beaches and azure water, narrow streets, red-tile roofs, outdoor markets and restaurants, parks, and dozen of museums.

A major attraction is the old town with long winding streets, gastronomic restaurants, bars with live music, brasseries, theaters, and markets.  The Promenade des Anglais is another attraction, which has splendid views and many palm trees.  The most elegant hotels, bars, cafes, and restaurants are located on the promenade.

Management World 2013 will be held at the Acropolis.

Getting to Nice

The Nice Cote d’Azur Airport is located on the Promenade des Anglais at the west entrance of the city, 7 km from downtown and is served with two terminals. A bus service connects each terminal of the airport to Nice (4 Euros).  The bus runs two routes - the 99 to the central railway station in Nice, Gare Nice Ville, and the 98 to the central bus station Gare Routiere. Taxi services are also available. Rates range from 22 to 32 Euros, plus supplement charges for baggage and  four people to Nice Centre.

Getting Around

Nice is served by a “U-shaped” tram route that runs from Comte de Falican, south to the city centre and coast and back to Pont Michel.  More than 400m in length and a total of 21 stations. There is a one tram every 5 minutes during peak hours.   The cost for one trip is 1 / 1.30 €.  Ticket dispensing machines are located at all tram stations and accept cash and credit cards.

The public bus system of Nice connects most parts of the city, and a single bus fare will get you quickly around Nice and to outlying areas, as well. Tickets are sold in various points around the city and on the buses.  The cost for one trip is 1 - 1.30 €  or a day pass is 4- 5.22 € .  With one ticket you may go as far as Cannes, the price is not limited to city center.

The main taxi locations are the Acropolis, Esplanade Masséna, Promenade des Anglais, Place Garibaldi, Rue Hotel-des-Postes, and Gare SNCF. To keep in mind there is a night rate applied from 7 pm until 7 am.  Always take a taxi that has a meter, and each one should be able to give you a receipt.

Health and Safety

The city is an ideal location for an event of this size- all facilities are easily accessible, and the city provides a safe and therefore conducive environment for business. Even though Nice is a safe city, you should take the following steps whenever you travel:

  • Make a copy of your passport, and pack it in a place separate from where you are carrying the original.
  • Leave a copy of your itinerary with family or friends at home.
  • Be especially cautious at crowded subways, train stations, bus stations, tourist sites, market places, festivals, and crime-ridden neighborhoods.
  • Don't use short cuts, narrow alleys, or poorly lit streets.
  • Try not to travel alone at night- if you have no choice, let a colleague know where you are going.
  • Avoid public demonstrations and other personal matters with strangers.
  • Try not to wear conspicuous clothing and expensive jewelry, and do not carry excessive amounts of money or unnecessary credit cards
  • Familiarize yourself with emergency exits and procedures at the venue, and your hotel

For anyone traveling to France from another country to attend Management World 2013 you are advised to check with your country's appropriate government agencies for VISA and travel information.
