Defense Sets its Sights on Management World 2010

In the course of less than two years, TM Forum’s Defense Initiative has gone from literally nothing to a thriving community of users who are making their use of TM Forum best practices and standards known to the wider community. While the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) had been using TM Forum standards for some time before the formation of the Defense Initiative, it has now stepped up to publicly advocating the use of these standards and frameworks, contributing to their advancement and much more.

This week at Management World 2010, the vibrant Defense Community will be on the radar with a full slate of activities beginning with the Defense Lunch, taking place on Tuesday, May 18 from 12:45-1:45 p.m. in Mediterranee Room 3. This luncheon is open to all attendees doing business in the Government and Defense sectors, however space is limited. Please contact Christy Coffey to secure your place.

After the Tuesday lunch, we’ll be featuring the Defense Spotlight from 2-5 p.m. in Rhodes Conference Room 3, Level 2. The spotlight will be broken down into two sessions. From 2-3:30 p.m., “Optimizing Communication Efficiency through Standards,” which is being chaired by Manuel Hermosilla of the DoD, will feature speakers from the DoD, Boeing Company and Thales Communications and will take a close look at delivering mobile broadband satellite communications anywhere, anytime as well as using TM Forum standards in defense network management.

The 4-5:30 p.m. session, “PBNM & Autonomic Behavior,” will be chaired by Sriram Chakrapani of the DoD and will feature speakers from MITRE, Progress Software, Detecon International, Logica and CA. This session will address the Policy Information Exchange model, defense application of policy governance for autonomic devices and policy-based network management in the cloud.
