The first Frameworx adoption survey, announced at Management World Americas, shows the proliferation of the industry-recognized suite of standards. According to the survey, four out of five service provider member respondents use and gain measurable benefits from TM Forum’s Frameworx to simplify their IT infrastructure. The survey illustrates the depth and breadth of Frameworx adoption by the communications industry and demonstrates companies adopting Frameworx are realizing significant business benefits. The survey points to the growing importance of TM Forum Frameworx Conformance Certification Program for both service providers and suppliers. The program simplifies and brings transparency to procurement of standards-based software and solutions, providing a simple, clear, independent assessment of conformance to Frameworx. This increasing trend is supported by 63 percent of companies surveyed reporting they are already mandating Frameworx conformance in relevant RFx specifications, and 41 percent of companies report using TM Forum’s Procurement Templates, launched just a year ago.
Microsoft Business Analytics Accelerator for Telecommunications Added to Successful Product Assessments
Congratulations to Microsoft for the successful completion of its Business Analytics Accelerator for Telecommunications (BAAT) Release 1.0 Frameworx 10 assessment. The Microsoft assessment addressed Business Process Framework 9.0 and Information Framework 9.0.
The primary objective of the Microsoft BAAT is to provide a framework that can be readily reused and extended to fast-track the design, development and deployment of a business analytics solution for the telecommunications industry. The BAAT focuses on a few core scenarios and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to speed the time to implementation for telecommunications operators. However, the solution can be easily grown to support countless other scenarios.

Procurement Best Practices
To help service providers reduce the cost and risk of IT purchases, TM Forum has created a series of Procurement Templates to simplify the procurement of Frameworx-conformant solutions. The templates, which support a standardized procurement process, can significantly reduce the time and cost associated with RFx responses for both service providers and suppliers. Since the program began a year ago the templates have been downloaded from the TM Forum web site more almost 1,200 times!
Frameworx Conformance Certification Assessments are an important complement to procurement templates. By providing a consistent evaluation of product, solution, and implementation conformance with Frameworx, the assessments allow the industry to significantly reduce the costs associated with the procurement process.
Nearly half of the supplier requests for Conformance Certification are because their service provider customers require product certification to Frameworx standards and best practices.
A supporting training course, “Frameworx-based Procurement Support,” provides technical and procurement staff with key knowledge and advice on how to use Frameworx and the templates to simplify the procurement process and reduce total cost of ownership. The course is available for both public and in-company training.
In addition, more than 1,200 individuals are now TM Forum certified practitioners in one or more of the Frameworx components.
