Types of Collaboration Projects

When you join a Collaboration Project, it will be one of 3 types of efforts:

Article: Evolving TM Forum’s Collaboration Environment – Delivering Best Practices and Standards When the Industry Needs Them

Interest Groups
  • New areas of interest
  • Scoping/Analyzing a problem
  • People sharing a “pain point” and sharing ideas of how to address it
  • This is where “the future” starts to emerge...
  • Formal output is not required – may just be discussions or may deliver a whitepaper, a recommendation for further work or a technical report
Standard Projects
  • Producing a formal output such as a guidebook, framework, or interface
  • Run by members on a best-effort basis based on available member resources and contributions
  • TM Forum staff liaisons work with members to assist with progressing project
Committed Resource/Strategic Projects
  • Business critical to the market and as a result called out specifically in the TM Forum's strategic plan
  • Active engagement from buyers (e.g. Service Providers) meaning these are the highest priority projects
  • Meet the business needs by delivering the right standards at the right time
  • Committed resources from members and TM Forum staff; deliveries are actively driven to project plan
  • Participants are eligible for becoming a "Contributing Member" and gaining the benefits of that program
