Course Description (NGOSS Distilled):
This course is intended to provide students with an over view of the NGOSS framework and its key components: the Business Process Framework (eTOM), the TM Forum Information Framework (SID), the technology neutral architecture and the TM Forum Applications Framework. The course contains a suite of new practical exercises to help the assimilation of these topics. The course will cover the NGOSS lifecycle and recent work in the area of compliance but it will not provide a step by step deployment methodology.

Intended for: OSS/BSS professionals who are involved in developing BSS/OSS solutions using NGOSS methodologies. These include: Solution architects, analysts, modelers, developers, and integrators.

Pre-requisites: None

Length: One day

Technology Being Taught: NGOSS at an introductory level.

Highlights: This course covers all aspects of the TM Forum’s NGOSS toolkit. Comprehensive practical examples of NGOSS usage from companies such as Motorola, Intelliden and Metasolv are included in the course.

Upon completion, delegates will be able to:

  • Identify all the components of NGOSS and the relationship between them;
  • Understand NGOSS lifecycle and methodology;
  • Understand basic concepts of the TM Forum Business Process Framework (eTOM) and the TM Forum Information Framework (SID), and their relationship to NGOSS Understand NGOSS architecture (Technology-Neutral and Technology-Specific).

Course Description (TM Forum Business Process Framework (eTOM) Distilled):
The TM Forum Business Process Framework (eTOM) is at the heart of NGOSS. It provides the only standardized way within the telecoms industry to capture business processes. This course sets out to provide the attendee with a big picture view of the Business Process Framework (eTOM) and its use in business process transformation. The student will hear how the framework has been used in successful projects and will take part in practical exercises aimed at enhancing the knowledge gained in the course.

Intended for: OSS/BSS professionals including: business managers, enterprise solution architects, process practitioners (managers, developers, and implementers), and solution providers.

Pre-requisites
: A general awareness of the TM Forum and its work; General recognition of business process modeling as an aid to understanding and improving business operation

Technology Being Taught:
The course aims to provide an overview of the TM Forum Business Process Framework (eTOM) and some high level views on its deployment. It provides the student with information from which they can assess their own deployment business case. It does not provide the student with a deployment methodology.

Upon completion, delegates will be able to:

  • Identify all the components of the TM Forum Business Process Framework (eTOM);
  • Understand the role of the Business Process Framework (eTOM) within an enterprise, and the benefits of using it;
  • Recognize what is required for the framework to be extended to meet enterprise needs;
  • Understand how framework process decomposition is used to “drill down” to lower levels (“Level 2”);
  • Recognize the relationships between the Business Process Framework (eTOM) and various other models (NGOSS, TM Forum Information Framework (SID), TMN, ITIL);
  • Understand the necessary steps for decomposing a business process problem and apply the framework to solving it.
