Course Description (Business Process Framework (eTOM) Implementer's Workshop): The adoption of the TM Forum’s Business Process Framework (eTOM) continues to increase within the telecommunications industry. As a result, there is a need to provide advanced training in how it can be extended/modified for use by an organization and in its practical use.
The Business Process Framework (eTOM) Implementer's Workshop provides students with practical guidance for implementing, using and extending the framework. Case studies depict how the framework is being used by organizations and exercises allow students to practice the competencies obtained during the workshop.
Intended for:
- enterprise architects, who can use the Business Process Framework (eTOM) as a standardized industry reference, to evaluate where alignment and variation is needed in their organization;
- process designers, who can use the Business Process Framework (eTOM) to assist in detailed process analysis and definition;
- system architects, who can use the Business Process Framework (eTOM) as a requirements tool in directing system solutions to meet business needs.
Pre-requisites: Understanding of the Business Process Framework (eTOM), preferably attendance at a recent “eTOM Distilled”/"Business Process Framework (eTOM) Distilled" course.
Length: Two days
Highlights: This workshop, half of which is dedicated to student practice, offers guidance on developing a Business Process Framework (eTOM) implementation plan, providing a set of guidelines for extending the framework to customize it for an organization's use. It presents a series of examples for using the framework in addition to its use purely as a process framework.
Upon completion, delegates will be able to:
- Describe current work in further decomposing the Business Process Framework (eTOM) processes;
- Develop a Business Process Framework (eTOM) implementation plan;
- Begin to map current processes to the Business Process Framework (eTOM);
- Understand and address the challenges of introducing the Business Process Framework (eTOM) into an enterprise;
- Understand guidelines for extending the Business Process Framework (eTOM);
- Apply the guidelines to extend the Business Process Framework (eTOM);
- Gain an appreciation of the Business Process Framework (eTOM)’s many uses;
- Begin to put the Business Process Framework (eTOM) to other uses.
Agenda:

Course Description (TM Forum Information Model (SID) Modeler's Workshop): The industry’s adoption of the TM Forum Information Model (SID) continues to increase. The TM Forum Information Model (SID) Modeler's Workshop offers attendees theory and practice on the use of the model. Included is how the model can be extended and implemented by applying modeling patterns and extension guidelines. See how TM Forum members are putting the model to use in their organizations. Learn practical guidelines on how to transform the TM Forum Information Model (SID) from an information model to a data model. Coupled with instructor facilitated exercises through which attendees can practice newly gained skills, this workshop enables attendees to effectively put the TM Forum Information Model (SID) to use within their own organizations.
Intended for: OSS/BSS professionals including: information architects, data base administrators, enterprise solution architects, application developers, and solution providers.
Pre-requisites:
- A general awareness of the TM Forum and its work;
- A intermediate understanding of the Unified Modeling Language (UML);
- A basic understanding of the TM Forum Information Model (SID).
Length: Two days
Technology being taught:
- Achieving NGOSS goals by using the TM Forum Information Model (SID);
- The application of the TM Forum Information Model (SID) modeling patterns and guidelines for extending and implementing the model;
- Opportunities for using the TM Forum Information Model (SID);
- Instructor facilitated exercises provide a student with real-world practice.
Upon completion, delegates will be able to:
- Describe how the TM Forum Information Model (SID) can be used to achieve NGOSS goals;
- Describe the TM Forum Information Model (SID) modeling patterns and how they can be used;
- Employ the guidelines when extending/implementing the TM Forum Information Model (SID);
- Transform the TM Forum Information Model (SID) from an information model to a data model;
- Identify opportunities for using the TM Forum Information Model (SID);
- Quantitatively justify the use of the TM Forum Information Model (SID).
Agenda:
