RN334, Release Notes for the Integration Framework Suite 12.0

Automation of business processes enables you to reduce costs and deploy new services rapidly, but relies on interoperable systems across the enterprise and value-chain. The Integration Framework defines how the processes and information behind these systems can be automated by defining standardized SOA-based interfaces called Business Services (formerly called NGOSS contracts).

Integration Framework includes the identification, naming and classification of services and guidelines for the development of Business Services; model-driven tooling for the machine-assisted production of standardized interfaces; and a repository for Business Services.

Due to the broader definition of the Integration Framework, the GB942 document suite which was once referred to as the Integration Framework is now being referred to as the Business Services suite of documents. The Integration Framework is now comprised of a more robust set of documents, including Business Services, Interface Development Tooling and numerous interfaces.

This release of the Integration Framework Suite builds on previous releases, with updates in the following main areas:

  • Enterprise Security Interface Audit Logs
  • Policy Domains Information Exchanging
  • DSL/GPON Provisioning
  • Basic Resource Inventory
  • Deployment and Adoption of Harmonized Interfaces
  • Interface Development Tooling
  • Interface Deployment Scenarios
  • Business Services (Technical Report).

The driving forces behind this release were to continue the ongoing development of standardized interfaces. The TM Forum Interface Program (TIP) interfaces are the next generation of interfaces to be provided by TM Forum which are being developed on request from Service Providers to ensure greater interoperability across their networks.

To facilitate adoption of recent new TIP interfaces a new migration pack has been provided to show the OSS/J to TIP RAM interface migration, this will live alongside the existing migration pack from MTOSI for RAM.

Another key force for this release was the continuous development of the Interface Development tooling which facilitates autogeneration of new standardized interfaces. The new release of the tooling enabled the generation of a new Policy Information Exchange Interface, an Enterprise Security Interface and new Basic Resource Inventory Interface.

Along with a significant focus on standardized interface generation, there was also a significant focus on the definition and generation of Business Services which can be found in the Business Services Technical Report.
