It's a miracle - mobile phones reverse Alzheimer's!

A surprising new study in mice, led by University of South Florida, provides the first evidence that long-term exposure to electromagnetic waves associated with cell phone use may actually protect against, and even reverse, Alzheimer's disease.

The researchers showed that exposing old Alzheimer's mice to electromagnetic waves generated by cell phones erased brain deposits of the harmful protein beta-amyloid, in addition to preventing the protein's build-up in younger Alzheimer's mice. The sticky brain plaques formed by the abnormal accumulation of beta amyloid are a hallmark of Alzheimer's disease. Most treatments against Alzheimer's try to target beta-amyloid.

However, to the north in the state of Maine, legislators want to be the the first to require cell phones to carry warnings that they can cause brain cancer!

Manufacturers would have to put labels on phones and packaging warning of the potential for brain cancer associated with electromagnetic radiation. The warnings would recommend that users, especially children and pregnant women, keep the devices away from their head and body.  And this is despite the fact that there is no consensus among scientists that mobile phones even cause cancer.

San Francisco also wants to display similar warnings.  It's proposal would require the display of the absorption rate level next to each phone in print at least as big as the price. The proposed bill is not specific about absorption rate levels, but would require a permanent, non-removable advisory of risk in black type, except for the word ‘warning', which would be large and in red letters. It would also include a color graphic of a child's brain next to the warning.

Considering the number of road accident deaths across the USA each year it won't be surprising to see health warnings stuck on cars soon!  I suppose the biggest decision mobile phone users in the USA will have to make shortly is whether they risk brain cancer or avoid Alzheimer's.  Tough decision!
