The TM Forum recently released its new standards-based OSS/J order management API – called Information Framework JSR-264 – that enables OSS providers to fully interoperate with certified BSS and CRM vendors. This TM Forum open API standard eases interoperability among back-office and CRM vendors, resulting in speedier service rollouts, improved operational efficiencies and reduction in deployment costs by as much as 30 percent. As strange as it may seem to others, even though I am quite a techno geek from the philosophical perspective (I like to talk about all the latest trends and gadgets ;-)), usually I do not belong to the technology early adaptors group, and I am not the proud owner of all the latest technology gadgets. As such I joined the smartphone owners group only a couple of months ago. I decided to support the open source community and purchased a new Android smartphone, but my discussion here refers to all smartphones... -
Cloud services hold a promise for communication service providers (CSPs) and the small and medium enterprises that they serve – the promise of transformation. For the consumers of cloud services, or X as a service (XaaS), businesses can instantly access enterprise-grade applications and services from any location with an internet connection. That's the quote that I thought of while enjoying a low-tech afternoon this past weekend (reading the paperback version of " The Invisible Mountain ," and enjoying a cup of coffee and a 4-cheese panini made with a traditional, non-electric Italian coffee maker and panini... -
I grew up in Latin America, so I think I know what bad regulations can do to technology investments, innovation, consumer interests and progress in general. It scares me to see that the issue of net neutrality may end up being regulated in the wrong way. Those who defend net neutrality, maintain that "the Internet fosters innovation and investment in new business opportunities because it's an open platform, and the network operators who build on-ramps to the Internet thrive when they maximize... -
I agree with Martin Creaner that the telecom world of just 20 years ago might look quite quaint "to someone who wasn't even alive when AT&T broke up into the Baby Bells, setting the stage for what's now known more broadly as the communications industry," ( The Telecom Evolution: The View from a Front Row Seat ). Twenty or 25 years ago, the faith of the telecom industry was fundamentally dictated by the evolution in developed markets. In the 1980s, many believed in the trickle... | | Paid Advertisement | | | | | Copyright © 1988-2012, TeleManagement Forum. All Rights Reserved | | | | | |
