There's an art in writing headlines to really draw in the reader. This one in TelecomAsia is a brilliant example "DoCoMo plans LTE Cloud to Avoid Dumb Pipe" . In one single sentence they manage to capture my attention from three different perspectives. As any regular reader of my blog will know I very interested in the emergence of LTE; I'm also very interested in the potential of Cloud; and for several years I've been immersed in how Operators avoid the dumb pipe scenario. So Telecom Asia in one simple headline links all three hot buttons and pretty much ensures that I read the article - brilliant!
The essence of this article seems to be that the low latency and high bandwidth offered by LTE makes it perfect for offering cloud services. And spliting some of the feature functionality between the handset and the DoCoMo LTE cloud, means that over the top services are less likely.
On other cloud news - as predicted the cloud security scares continue to grow. AT&T announced their Synaptic Compute as a Service (CaaS) this week as a partial fightback against some of these concerns, but I expect alot more security concerns to be aired before this market finally decides to accept Cloud as a mainstream way forward.
