In April 2009, RIM’s fledgling BlackBerry App World virtual storefront offered PayPal as its sole billing mechanism. Just after publication of my prediction that war was breaking out between the major players in the NFC and mobile payments world, three mobile operators and three banks in the Netherlands announced collaboration on a unified m-payments system. This week I attended a conference in Singapore devoted to mobile financial services. So what you may ask? Well, when I asked some speakers if anything had changed in three years they admitted, very little.
